Description
- Serve as the on-site EHS lead throughout the construction phase, representing the owner in safety oversight
- Ensure full compliance with Cal/OSHA, EPA, local, and corporate safety regulations
- Develop and implement site-specific EHS programs, policies, and procedures, including but not limited to:
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Hot Work Permitting
- Confined Space Entry
- Fall Protection
- Hazard Communication (HazCom/GHS)
- Create and manage the construction site’s EHS management system, including documentation workflows and tracking tools
- Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analyses
- Lead daily safety meetings, contractor onboarding, and site-specific training
- Monitor contractor activities and ensure alignment with project safety expectations
- Track and report EHS performance metrics (leading/lagging indicators, TRIR, near misses, etc.)
- Support inspections, audits, and any regulatory interactions or permitting requirements
- Promote a proactive, solution-oriented safety culture across all project teams
Compensation: 65-80/hr
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in EHS roles, with a strong background in construction safety
- Proven ability to design and implement EHS systems and programs from the ground up
- Demonstrated leadership on large capital projects ($100M+) or owner-representative safety roles
- Deep understanding of Cal/OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and construction-specific regulations
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence contractors and cross-functional stakeholders
- Life science, biotech, or pharmaceutical construction experience is a plus, but not required
- Proficiency with EHS software platforms (e.g., Intelex, Enablon, VelocityEHS, or similar)
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills (e.g., SOPs, training materials)
- Relevant certifications highly preferred: CSP, CIH, CHST, OSHA 30/510, or equivalent
