About You:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Senior Underwriter. The Senior Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating and assessing risk to determine homeowners' policy eligibility. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound decisions based on established guidelines and policies.
What will you do?
- Underwrite new and renewal homeowners line of business in the US.
- Analyze risk information and make specific recommendations for additional actions such as inspections, loss prevention, etc.
- Address queries from other departments, such as claims, billing, and customer support. Act within your underwriting authority and escalate issues if necessary.
- Communicate effectively with various distribution partners and leadership to resolve underwriting matters.
- Recommend improvements to the underwriting process to underwrting managers and the technology counterparts.
- Decides on the most challenging referrals that aren’t clearly defined by the existing guidelines where critical underwriting judgement and knowledge is key.
- Observes and communicates underwriting trends and recommendations to the leadership team.
We might be a match if you…
- Have at least 4 years of industry experience, ideally in property underwriting.
- Have strong technical underwriting, analytical, and critical thinking skills, including attention to detail and accuracy.
- Feel comfortable in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Are willing to gain state-specific/geographic knowledge to resolve unique underwriting exposures or challenges.
- Are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Have a good command of English (both written & spoken) – at B2+ level.
- Are available in the afternoons – we prioritize everyone’s personal time and work-life fit, but since we work in multinational teams, evening meetings may be necessary to ensure smooth communication across time zones. Also, this role involves delegations to the US.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field is nice to have.
