Summary
The purpose of the Research Associate I is to provide support with in vitro client studies and help with in vivo studies aligned with Company's goals, objectives and quality standards.Responsibilities- Primary responsibility for all aspects of mammalian cell culture, including media and buffer preparation, culture initiation, maintaining aseptic technique, propagation, and cryopreservation of cells, including primary human cells from commercial and/or patient sources.- Perform mammalian tissue culture on mouse and human cell lines as well as primary immune cells.
Thaw and expand cells for large scale in vivo studies.- Maintain a wide variety of suspended and adherent cell lines at once.- Cell culture media preparation, cell banking and testing.- Reports observations and progress of cell cultures to Study Director and Laboratory Manager.- Perform calculations necessary for determining cell doubling time, cell concentration, seeding density, molarity, etc.- Assist in all areas in support of cell culture and related duties as required including stocking, tracking inventory, material movement, filling out log sheets, and other special projects.- Work in a dynamic, team-based environment and coordinate with other departments.
Collaborate with other departments such as in vivo, biomarker, quality, logistics, in order to support the manufacturing activities.- Ability to work independently and in and across teams consisting of members with different degrees of knowledge or ability.Minimum Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related area.- Exceptional organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.- Able to multi-task with a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy.- Willing and able to work within a Quality System with oversight by QA and other regulatory bodies.- Able to troubleshoot effectively and solve scientific problems with moderate supervision.- Able to find, read, and understand relevant scientific literature.- Willing and able to work under the pressure of deadlines and find solutions to meet timelines.- Able to work across teams by being a flexible team player.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Familiar with at least the concept of aseptic techniques.Preferred Requirements-2 years of laboratory experience, or equivalent, is preferred but not required.-Experience with mammalian in vitro culture systems is a plus.The California salary range for this position is:Research Associate I: $25 an hourThis salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience.Crown Bioscience is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
