: Spacecraft Propulsion Engineer – Pumps – Quantum SpaceLocation: Rockville, MDCommitment: Full-time, all-inWho We’re Looking ForQuantum Space is building highly maneuverable, long-duration spacecraft that require advanced propulsion systems. We are seeking a Spacecraft Propulsion Engineer – Pumps to lead the design and integration of pump-fed fluid systems used in our next-generation in-space vehicles. You will work hands-on with a team developing high-reliability pump solutions for storable bipropellant applications.

This role requires deep technical expertise in turbomachinery, thermal and structural constraints, and component integration for spaceflight.Where You’ll Make an Impact

  • Analyze and support the development of propellant pumps and supporting systems for spacecraft propulsion.

  • Develop requirements and evaluate system trade studies for pump-fed bipropellant propulsion systems.

  • Validate pump CAD models and drawings using Creo.

  • Support structural, thermal, and rotordynamic analyses.

  • Build and validate dynamic pump models in larger system-level dynamic analyses.

  • Interface with vendors and internal teams to manage pump development, testing, and delivery.

  • Lead or support component and system-level test planning and execution, including hot-fire test support.

  • Collaborate with systems, mechanical, fluid, and thermal teams to ensure reliable integration of pump-fed architectures.

What It Takes

  • BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering field.

  • 5+ years of experience developing propulsion or turbomachinery components for aerospace applications.

  • Direct experience in design, analysis, or test of fluid pumps, impellers, seals, or similar rotating machinery.

  • Knowledge of cavitation, NPSH requirements, and priming strategies for pump systems.

  • Proficiency in Creo and Windchill for detailed modeling and system layout.

  • Experience leading supplier interactions or internal development of flight hardware.

  • Familiarity with test instrumentation, flow and pressure measurement, and data analysis.

  • Strong cross-disciplinary communication skills.

What You’ll Get

  • Ownership – Take the lead on developing spacecraft pump-fed propulsion solutions.

  • Innovation – Push the envelope of maneuverability and mission duration through advanced hardware.

  • Impact – Help define propulsion capabilities for high-priority cislunar and deep space missions.
