Windows System Administrator, Level 2

What You Will DoAs a Windows System Administrator, Level 2 you will manage, maintain, and secure physical and virtual Windows-based systems in a mission-critical environment. You will be responsible for daily administration, performance tuning, patching, and system upgrades while ensuring compliance with customer IT policies and security standards. Your role supports delivery operations by helping ensure all service levels and technical objectives are consistently met.Key Responsibilities


  • Administer day-to-day IT operations, including system availability, configuration management, patching, backup and recovery for both physical and virtual environments
  • Perform software installations, upgrades, and deployment of operating systems and applications
  • Schedule, execute, and document system updates in accordance with organizational IT procedures
  • Monitor and optimize system performance and availability
  • Evaluate and apply vendor patches and upgrades in line with customer policies
  • Implement and monitor system security measures including auditing tools and remediation of findings
  • Ensure data integrity and availability by evaluating and implementing appropriate hardware/software solutions
  • Develop, document, and promote standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight during installations, maintenance tasks, and recovery operations

Required Skills and Qualifications


  • Strong technical experience in Windows system administration across physical and virtual platforms
  • Proficiency in applying patches, security updates, and system configurations
  • Hands-on experience with backup and recovery operations
  • Knowledge of system security tools, auditing, and policy compliance enforcement
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to support technical projects independently and as part of a team

Education and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a System Administrator supporting contracts of similar scope and complexity
  • An additional five (5) years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree

Certifications


  • Required: DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification
  • Preferred certification: CompTIA Security+ CE

Clearance Requirement:


  • Must possess an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance to be considered for this role.
