We are looking for a senior Python developer with leadership experience to join our team in Gauteng. This hands-on role involves building and maintaining scalable systems using Python, contributing to AI-driven projects, and leading a team of developers toward technical excellence.
You’ll work across the full stack, with a strong focus on backend development and exposure to AI/ML applications, as well as integration with modern frontend frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of backend systems using Python (Django, FastAPI, Flask)
- Architect and implement RESTful APIs and integrate them with frontend frameworks (e.g. React, Vue)
- Guide and mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and drive engineering best practices
- Collaborate with data scientists and AI teams to integrate machine learning models and intelligent features into production systems
- Contribute to scalable, secure, and high-performance software design
- Help shape technical direction and make architectural decisions
What You'll Need:
- BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years of professional development experience, primarily in Python
- Experience with Django, Flask, or FastAPI
- Proven experience in leading or mentoring development teams
- Solid frontend understanding (JavaScript, React or Vue)
- Experience working with or integrating AI/ML solutions (e.g., model deployment, AI APIs, recommendation systems)
- Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL)
Nice to Have:
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Exposure to ML tools (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data pipelines
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD practices
