Position Summary:
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, troubleshooting, and documenting of the Meriplex core service provider network. Using superior communication and analytical abilities, this position will alleviate chronic escalation issues.
Key Responsibilities/ Duties:
- Design and implement new sites and services.
- Oversee implementation of new network infrastructure to scale or increase resiliency.
- Stage and deploy new data center implementations including core routing and switching.
- Document and present recommendations to leadership as required.
- Participate in and defend decisions within change control life cycle.
- Maintain and manage networking services.
- Provide network operational support to internal teams or customers as needed.
- Monitor network to ensure KPIs and SLAs are met.
- Routinely review designs for operational efficiency and make recommendations for improvement.
- Manage hardware and software lifecycle of networking equipment.
- Maintain best practice security guidelines and oversee their enforcement.
- Provision IP addressing.
- Proficient in technologies such as, but not limited to: MPLS, IPv4/6, VLANs, VPN, BGP, OSPF, CoS, QoS, LAG, VRRP, L3VPN, L2VPN, Route Reflectors.
- Performance tuning, metric collection, disaster recovery.
- Maintain network documentation for core network infrastructure.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for all core network-related issues and outages.
- Interact with carriers and other third-party vendors as needed for remediation.
- Ability to critically evaluate network changes and understand their impact.
- Support service provider offerings within other departments as they related to the core network to remediate issues.

Education/ Experience:
- 5+ years of enterprise Juniper and Cisco WAN/LAN.
- Service Provider Experience.
- Proven work experience as a lead network engineer with a service provider background.
- Solid technical background with an ability to give instructions to both a technical and non-technical audience.
Certifications:
- Juniper: JNCIP or higher in datacenter, enterprise routing and switching.
- Cisco: CCNP or higher preferred.
Physical Demands:
Sedentary Work – Exerts up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
