Job Summary
The Manager of Customer Journey will play a pivotal role in driving Mercer Advisors’ client acquisition strategy by managing and optimizing lead nurturing efforts across the entire sales funnel. This individual will be responsible for increasing appointment bookings, improving show rates, and boosting conversion through strategic, data-driven email and SMS drip campaigns to drive new client acquisition. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on marketer with deep experience in Salesforce Marketing Cloud and a strong understanding of customer journey design and profiles and marketing automation.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Lead Nurturing Strategy & Execution
- Own the end-to-end lead nurturing strategy across the funnel—from initial inquiry to appointment booking and conversion to new client.
- Create new journeys ranging from appointment bookings to content downloads, all in service of better nurturing leads throughout the funnel.
- Design, build, and optimize multi-touch email and SMS drip journeys and sales cadences tailored to different lead segments and funnel stages.
- Collaborate with acquisition marketing, sales, and analytics teams to align nurturing efforts with broader business goals.
- Design Ideal Customer Profiles to map out best fit to inform targeting, in collaboration with Director of Specialty Segments.
- Campaign Development & Optimization
- Develop and manage automated campaigns in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including Journey Builder & Email Studio.
- Conduct A/B testing and performance analysis to continuously improve engagement, appointment rates, and conversion.
- Monitor campaign performance and proactively identify opportunities to improve lead quality and funnel velocity.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with analytics and sales teams to understand lead behavior and sales feedback, using insights to refine nurturing strategies.
- Work closely with content and creative teams to ensure messaging is aligned with brand voice and resonates with target audiences.
- Coordinate with data and tech teams to ensure accurate lead tracking, segmentation, and reporting.
- Reporting & Insights
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as open rates, click-through rates, appointment bookings, show rates, and conversion.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on campaign performance and lead nurturing effectiveness.
- Leverage data to identify trends, gaps, and new opportunities for growth.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- 5+ years of experience in marketing automation, lead nurturing, or lifecycle marketing, preferably in a B2C or financial services environment.
- Proven expertise in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including Journey Builder, Email Studio and Salesforce cadences; Familiarity with Calendly workflows is a plus.
- Strong understanding of marketing funnel dynamics and customer journey mapping.
- Experience with A/B testing, segmentation, and performance optimization.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM
Working Conditions:
Professional office environment. Working inside. Standing and sitting. Will be assigned to a workstation. No heavy lifting over 20 lbs.
