Position Summary:
We are seeking a degreed Electrical Engineer with a desire to work in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment within a growing organization. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with senior engineering staff from the initial conceptual electrical design through construction and commissioning of both large and small facility projects. The Electrical Engineer will resolve complex design challenges (e.g., conflicting design requirements, difficult coordination, and unsuitable materials) while benefiting from a solid quality control process.
The ideal candidate will have the motivation and desire to excel in the consulting engineering field and embrace challenges as opportunities for professional and personal growth.Typical work assignments involve electrical design and engineering for a range of facility projects in sectors such as education, public works, water/wastewater, transportation, healthcare, and aviation. The Electrical Engineer will work on various systems including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, security, CCTV, access control, and communication systems.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Perform design computations and ensure designs comply with client specifications and guidelines
- Develop construction cost estimates and prepare contract plans, specifications, and estimates
- Attend client meetings and coordinate project timelines to meet deadlines and quality standards
- Collaborate with internal team members to ensure project completion
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5-10 years of experience in electrical power distribution, power generation, motor controls, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm design, telecommunications network design, or security systems design
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in Autodesk CADD and Revit
- Proficient in discipline-specific design software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding and application of NEC, IBC, and NFPA codes for electrical design
Preferred Experience:
- Professional Engineer License
- Knowledge of Microsoft Project and Bentley Microstation
- Experience with electrical modeling software (SKM Power Tools, ETAP) and lighting modeling software (AGi32, ElumTools)
- Familiarity with electrical testing apparatus
- Experience working with federal, state, and local government agencies
- Experience with local codes and regulations
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with occasional fieldwork requiring outdoor exposure in various weather conditions (heat, cold, wet/humid, dry/arid)
- Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required
- Occasional regional travel (within 90 miles) for meetings, field surveys, and construction verification activities
