Senior DevOps Engineer


Our client is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join its engineering team, with a focus on supporting an on-premises product, especially as they modernize to the cloud. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on designing, building, and optimizing infrastructure and deployment pipelines in hybrid environments. The right candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in DevOps and a strong track record of deploying and integrating complex systems across cloud and on-prem environments.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Mentor DevOps engineers and provide technical leadership on major initiatives.
  • Own and drive complex infrastructure and deployment projects end-to-end.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines and development/test environments.
  • Manage infrastructure as code (IaC) with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Oversee a hybrid environment (AWS, Azure, On-prem) with a focus on security, reliability, and performance.
  • Implement and monitor observability tools (e.g., Wiz, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog).
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and risk mitigation across infrastructure systems.
  • Maintain and document best practices around infrastructure and deployments for both internal and client use.
  • Apply security patches and perform updates in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Communicate infrastructure issues, root causes, and resolution plans clearly to stakeholders.

Requirements:


  • 7+ years in a DevOps role supporting enterprise-level software systems
  • Expertise in both cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure
  • Deep experience with Windows and Linux Server administration; certifications in at least two OS preferred
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash
  • Experience with database server administration (e.g., RDS, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
  • Strong knowledge of containerization (e.g., Docker, Podman)
  • Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools such as Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack
  • Solid experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI)
  • Experience supporting microservices or SOA-based systems
  • Strong analytical, planning, and decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications:


  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or similar certification
  • Experience optimizing cloud infrastructure for cost efficiency
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001)

Compensation & Benefits:


  • Salary range: $133,188 – $160,000 CAD (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
