Somethings is on a mission to end the youth mental health crisis by reducing the suicide rate for teens back to 2008 levels of 6.8 per 100,000 (1) for the 42 million teens in the U.S.To combat this, we are creating the first scaled network of Certified Peer Specialists and building the most engaging mental health experience in the world for teenagers. We’ve found deep resonance with Medicaid Managed Care Organizations and State Health Agencies and we’re scaling quickly toward serving hundreds of thousands of teens.
Role Overview
As our Founding Sales Lead, you will be the first point of contact for potential partners, helping to build the foundation of our payer partnerships. You will play a crucial role in identifying and qualifying new opportunities, setting the stage for long-term relationships that will drive our mission forward.This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a startup environment, is passionate about youth mental health, and is eager to contribute to a cause that makes a real difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Generation & Outreach: Proactively identify and engage potential Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) and State Health Agencies through cold calls, emails, and social media outreach.
- Qualification of Leads: Assess the needs and fit of prospective partners to ensure alignment with Somethings' mission and services.
- Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress using CRM software, ensuring timely follow-ups and accurate reporting on activity and results.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO, Head of Payer Partnerships and Growth team members to develop strategies for penetrating new markets and improving lead conversion rates.
- Market Research: Stay updated on market trends, competitors, and customer pain points to better position Somethings' offerings during outreach efforts.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports and insights to management on sales activities and market trends.
Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience in sales, business development, or related roles, preferably within the healthcare or digital health sectors.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate value propositions.
- Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with CRM software and other sales tools for lead tracking and reporting.
- Self-Motivated: Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work independently to achieve lead generation targets.
- Goal-Oriented: Results-driven with a focus on achieving and exceeding set targets and KPIs.
- Adaptability: Flexibility in responding to changing priorities and adapting to dynamic market conditions.

Somethings is poised to be a first mover in the space of scaled peer support as much of mental health care moves towards Peers.
- Teen mental health still remains a massive issue. Nearly 40% of teens in the U.S. still struggle with a mental health concern, 20% have had a major depressive episode in the last year, and 10% have attempted suicide in the last year.
- As of January 2025, Peers are now included in FUH and FUM HEDIS measures.
- SAMHSA released revised guidance around EPSDT and continued to encourage states to utilized Peer Supporters.
