REPORTING RELATIONSHIP & FUNCTIONAL ROLE
The Fluid Power Systems Engineer reports directly to the Engineering Manager, and their role is essential in the design, function, and coordination of fluid power systems. The engineer works closely with other team members and departments, ensuring that designs are not only technically sound but also meet project specifications and operational requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES
Design Responsibilities:
· Maintain and improve design/drafting processes: Continuously improve engineering workflows and documentations, ensuring that designs are efficient, accurate, and meet the required standards.· Design fluid power systems: The core of the role is designing systems such as hydraulic power units, lubrication systems, and custom motion control systems tailored to customer needs.· Specify and select components: Choose appropriate components like pumps, valves, actuators, and sensors that will make up the fluid power systems.· Create hydraulic schematics and solenoid charts: These documents are essential for both assembly and operation of the systems.
The schematics and charts guide both manufacturing and troubleshooting teams.· Assist with system layout: Physical and operational layout of the system, ensuring all components work together effectively in the space available.
Technical Support Responsibilities:
· Troubleshoot systems and components: Use analytical skills to resolve issues with hydraulic systems and individual components, often in high-pressure situations.· Provide technical support during assembly and testing: Help ensure that the systems are built according to design specifications and troubleshoot any problems during the assembly and testing phases.· Train internal personnel: Conduct training for both internal employees and external clients to ensure they understand the products and systems.· Occasional joint sales calls: Assist the sales team in meeting clients to promote system sales, acting as a technical expert to explain the system’s benefits and features.· Product and system training: Provide both internal and customer-facing training to ensure smooth operation and understanding of complex fluid power systems.· Assist with system startup and commissioning: Help clients during the startup phase, ensuring that systems function properly in real-world applications and troubleshoot any issues during commissioning.
Additional Responsibilities:
The Fluid Power Systems Engineer may be asked to perform other duties or contribute to company initiatives as they arise, especially in areas like system optimization, customer relations, or research and development. In summary, this position combines deep technical expertise with strong problem-solving and communication skills, requiring an individual who thrives in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will bring experience in fluid power design, an ability to manage both office and fieldwork, and a strong dedication to quality and safety.Requirements
