This is a hybrid position with 1 to 2 days in the Columbia, MD office, with the remaining days work-from-home.
The Controller will perform general cash management, treasury, financial reporting and supervisory related functions and assists the CFO in accurately reporting the financial position and results of operations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the timely processing of accounts payable and receivable activities, expense reports, and month end processing
- Record daily cash transactions and post journal entries in accounting system
- Set-up and process billing and tracking of transactions
- Review and reconciliation of general ledger accounts including preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
- Revenue and Bookings transaction Analysis and reporting
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of Product Codes to maintain the integrity and consistency of the operating systems
- Coordinate with insurance providers to ensure compliance
- Process loan payments and accruals for company loans outstanding
- Process bank transactions
- Prepare daily cash and dashboard reporting
- Prepare month-end reports
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Maintain and improve systems that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data, and enhance the company's value
- Work with IT to maintain security of company electronic and physical assets
- Work with Operations to ensure system and operational compliance
- Oversee accounting staff
- Assist CFO in preparation of financial information for external audits and tax preparation
- Assist CFO in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes
- Assist CFO in implementation of new software systems – (QuickBooks, Concur, World Travel, FACTS international tuition collection, CRM Product Code Management )
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, MBA preferred.
- Seven or more years' experience in accounting, including developing financial reports for forecasting and reporting.
- Proficiency in office software tools such as Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Highly proficient in QuickBooks Online
- Strong organizational abilities to manage office tasks, coordinate meetings, and handle executive travel arrangements efficiently.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Keen attention to detail is essential, along with the capability to identify and resolve issues independently.
