As trusted advisors, SEs play a critical role across the customer lifecycle, from initial discovery to adoption and expansion.

What you’ll do (responsibilities)

As Director of Solutions Engineering, you will lead a team of high-performing SEs through all stages of the sales cycle - from pipeline creation to onboarding, consumption, and renewal. Partnering with Sales Directors, you’ll drive technical strategy, elevate customer outcomes, and ensure the team delivers exceptional technical guidance across ASEAN and Asia.

  • Lead and Develop Talent: Hire, mentor, and grow SEs while fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Define Regional Strategy: Own and execute the technical strategy aligned with sales leadership and pipeline growth goals.
  • Support the Customer Lifecycle: Serve as executive sponsor during key engagements to ensure value realization across HashiCorp solutions.
  • Champion Technical Communities: Build and lead a strong technical community across APJ to drive advocacy, peer learning, and engagement.
  • Drive Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with partners, marketing, technical support, and product engineering to ensure cohesive execution.
  • Bridge Product and Market: Provide customer insights and product-market fit feedback to influence product direction and close capability gaps.
  • Optimize Operations: Apply systems thinking and data-driven approaches to improve SE workflows, performance, and scalability.
  • Shape Strategy: Contribute to regional strategy development and lead high-impact initiatives that support business growth.
  • Elevate Customer Needs: Communicate key trends and priorities from the field to internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

What you’ll need (basic qualifications)

  • 5+ years managing Solutions Engineering teams, preferably in enterprise software, cloud, or infrastructure.
  • Regional leadership experience across ASEAN and broader Asia, with a deep understanding of local business and customer dynamics.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with marketing, partners, support, and engineering in a go-to-market context.
  • Track record of building high-performing teams across multi-country scopes.
  • Product and customer insight to relay market feedback to product and engineering teams effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and business audiences.
  • Interpersonal and mentorship strength with a people-first leadership mindset.
  • Sound judgment and decisiveness in high-impact, strategic scenarios.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and internationally as needed.

What's nice to have (preferred qualifications)

  • Prior second-line leadership experience, as the scope of the role is expected to expand.
  • Experience with HashiCorp tools or similar technology stacks.
  • Advanced technical degree; MBA is a plus. #LI-Remote

Life at HashiCorp

HashiCorp was founded by Mitchell Hashimoto and Armon Dadgar in 2012 with the goal of revolutionizing datacenter management: application development, delivery, and maintenance. The datacenter of today is very different than the datacenter of yesterday, and we think the datacenter of tomorrow is just around the corner. We're writing software to take you all the way from yesterday to today, and then safely to tomorrow and beyond. Physical, virtual, containers. Private cloud, public cloud, hybrid cloud. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS. Windows, Linux, Mac. These are just some of the choices faced when architecting a datacenter of today. And the choice is not one or the other; instead, it is often a combination of many of these. HashiCorp builds tools to ease these decisions by presenting solutions that span the gaps. Our tools manage both physical machines and virtual machines, Windows, and Linux, SaaS and IaaS, etc. And we're committed to supporting next-generation technologies, as well. HashiCorp was founded and continues to be run by the primary authors of all our core technologies powering thousands of companies worldwide. We speak at conferences and write books related to application and infrastructure management. All our foundational technologies are open source and developed openly, and have been since 2010. The Tao of HashiCorp is the foundation that guides our vision, roadmap, and product design. As you evaluate using or contributing to HashiCorp's products, it may be valuable to understand the motivations and intentions for our work.
