The Nym team is a world-class mix of privacy experts, engineers, and thinkers spread across Europe. We believe that user privacy underpins democratic freedoms in a networked world, and we're proud to help roll back the surveillance society.
Nym is looking for a skilled Rust Engineer with strong open-source exposure to join our Core Development Team, focusing on smart contracts, post-quantum secure networking, and cryptographic systems. This is a key engineering role in a world-class team working on the cutting edge of privacy tech, decentralized networking, and blockchain infrastructure.
🧠In Your First Month, You Might:
- Get up to speed with post-quantum security developments at Nym.
- Write CosmWASM smart contracts.
- Optimize performance of network tunnel devices in the Nym mixnet to route IP traffic efficiently.
- Work on Cosmos L1 → L2 migration strategies and integrations with chains like Sui and Walrus.
🎯 Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain advanced privacy-preserving network infrastructure.
- Develop and audit cryptographic systems, especially around zk-credentials and e-cash.
- Develop smart contracts for decentralized systems, including CosmWASM and blockchain-specific integrations.
- Support integrations with wallets, explorers, and external systems.
- Contribute to browser-ready WebAssembly components.
- Champion post-quantum secure implementations across the stack.
Must Have:
- 5+ years in back-end or systems-level engineering.
- Proficiency in Rust, with strong experience in async programming (e.g., Tokio).
- Deep knowledge of networking and cryptography.
- Experience building or scaling distributed systems.
- Comfort with cryptographic libraries and protocols.
Great to have:Â
- Experience with Cosmos, CosmWASM, and blockchain migrations (e.g., L1 to L2).
- Familiarity with EVM, blockchain wallets, and smart contract ecosystems.
- Contributions to open-source cryptography or privacy tech projects.
What we offer you:Â
- A diverse, global team of 50+, interested in learning and solving problems together.
- 6 Weeks annual leave plus national holidays.
- Yearly learning and development allowance.
- IT hardware package tailored to your role.
- Remote working (with a bias towards being able to do in-person meetups periodically).
- A competitive salary.
