POSITION SUMMARY
Umoja Biopharma is seeking a Facility Maintenance & Reliability Manager to support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our state-of-the-art lentiviral vector development and manufacturing facility in Louisville, Colorado. Primary responsibilities for this position include the ownership and maintenance of site infrastructure, plant utilities, equipment, and facilities and lab services.Specifically, this individual will be responsible for providing technical oversight and coordination of general maintenance activities including but not limited to laboratory equipment, HVAC systems, hydronic water systems, plant steam, compressed gas systems, RODI water system, and site infrastructure.
Additionally, this individual will play a pivotal role in the ownership of facilities programs including the operation and maintenance of GMP support programs including site security, pest control, janitorial services, access control systems and the Environmental Monitoring System (EMS).As a leader within the Facilities organization, the Facility Maintenance & Reliability Manager is responsible for direct oversight, day-to-day management, and development of Lab and Facilities maintenance technicians at the CLIMB. This individual will lead by example and provide mentorship in the areas of safety, quality, maintenance, reliability and continuous improvement.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Specific responsibilities include:
- Oversee existing facilities operations with a broad range of responsibilities related to building and site management (e.g., vendor coordination, documentation management, and coordination with other functional areas).
- Provide technical leadership, personnel management, and strategic oversight for Facilities and Lab technicians.
- Develop and own technical documentation including operation and maintenance procedures for facilities and GMP support programs.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Facilities software systems including access control system, Building Management System (BMS), and Environmental Monitoring System (EMS).
- Provide engineering support for improving the reliability and availability of critical infrastructure and building systems.
- Serve as Facilities representative/SME on facility projects (CAPEX, Facility modification) and change controls to ensure aspects of facility design are fully integrated and aligned with operational goals.
- Assess facility performance and identify opportunities to enhance building capabilities and sustainability.
- Foster and maintain strategic partnerships with vendors and contractors supporting the operation and maintenance of The CLIMB’s facilities and utilities systems.
- Manage technician on-call schedule for off-hours and emergency site maintenance.
- Provision and maintain employee security access badges and system hardware.
- Partner with EH&S to identify, control, or eliminate safety hazards associated with operation and maintenance of the facility and equipment.
- Apply GEP (Good Engineering Practice) to support maintenance functions in the identification, troubleshooting, and repair of complex facilities, equipment, or system failures.
- Interpret and review utility, process system/equipment, plumbing, ductwork plans, architectural, and P&IDs.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline with a minimum of 5+ years of facilities or plant engineering experience.
- Ability to lead, supervise, and develop a team of high performing maintenance and facilities personnel.
- In-depth knowledge of facilities operations, building systems, and preventative maintenance best practices typical to a cGMP manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a leadership/supervisory role with a proven ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams.
- Independent and risk-based decision-making capability.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a collaborative manner across multiple functional areas.
- Ability to respond to emergency issues after normal business hours and provide on-call support, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in the operation of building automation systems including BMS, EMS, and standalone PLCs required for proper building, equipment, and system operation.
- Experience or familiarity applying various project management tools for schedule, budget, and resource management and reporting.
- Previous experience supporting a cGMP biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility startup and/or operations environment.
- Experience in cGMP cell and gene therapy manufacturing and/or testing facility.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, protective clothing, and eye safety glasses.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, use of hands, walking, bending, kneeling, and occasionally moving materials up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work onsite at our Louisville, CO daily.
Salary Range: $128,350 - $158,550
