The Opportunity
As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll be an essential part of our Operations Team, ensuring the safety, comfort, and functionality of our apartments and office spaces. From minor repairs and preventative maintenance to troubleshooting HVAC or appliance issues, you’ll handle it all with professionalism and a sharp eye for detail. You’ll work independently and as part of a team, interacting with guests, building staff, vendors, and internal departments to resolve issues quickly and uphold our brand standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance tasks such as painting, wallpapering, tile repair, light carpentry, and appliance installation/repair
- Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems to ensure apartment readiness
- Respond to service calls promptly, addressing guest concerns with professionalism and care
- Travel throughout NYC to service apartments using public transportation
- Communicate effectively with guests, internal teams, and building personnel
- Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation for urgent maintenance issues
- Follow all safety protocols, including MSDS and OSHA requirements
What We're Looking For:
- 2+ years of maintenance, engineering, or repair experience (hospitality/hotel preferred)
- Strong technical skills in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, and appliance repair
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-first mindset
- Comfort working in guest-occupied apartments
- Experience using mobile apps or maintenance tracking tools (Salesforce, Oscar a plus)
- Familiarity with NYC’s five boroughs and ability to navigate via public transit
- Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
Physical Requirements:
- Lift and move up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds with assistance
- Kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work in elevated or confined spaces
- Use power tools and hand tools with manual dexterity
- Work in varying environments — hot or cold spaces, dusty conditions, or noisy equipment areas
