Job Summary
The Supervisor is responsible for 4-6 technicians in support of contracted Solid Waste and Recycling activities at customer site. To include daily movement of full and empty collection bins on site, consolidation of materials in bailers, hauling bins and compactors. Processing of wood and metal suitable for various outlets. This includes performing work with hand tools, power tools, Powered Industrial Vehicles as well as work indoors and outdoors. Mandatory Site PPE: Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Hi-Vis Vest, Steel Toed Boots, Gloves (provided by ACTenviro)Reports to Program Manager.
Accountabilities
- Manage and oversee all daily functions and responsibilities of Technicians
- Execution of contracted services
- Staff Scheduling
- Timecards (Time entry, monitoring adherence to attendance policy)
- Disciplinary Actions
- Reviews
- Incident Investigations
- Daily point of contact for customer in support of program activities
- Ensure all services and responsibilities, as outlined by Program Manager and contract, are performed efficiently in a safe and compliant manner
- Attend all necessary meetings/virtual calls that may pertain to execution of contracted service as deemed appropriate by Program Manager
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding all ACTenviro personnel performing services at customer site
- Support planning, development, and growth of program
- Availability to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned, including backfilling for technicians when coverage is not available
Daily Activities
- Report to customer site on time and consistently
- Execute tailgate safety meeting with staff from responsible shifts at shift start
- Assign tasks required to satisfy daily support of contracted activities
- Call in full roll off and compactor bins, ensure proper bins are being pulled from site
- Audit activities to support operational and contractual requirements
- Communicate with customer and Program Manager to ensure services are completed to satisfaction
- Ensure shift pass downs are performed daily between each shift and communicated with alternate shift Supervisor in a written weekly pass down
- Provide training to staff and stakeholders to support program deliverables
Weekly Activities
- Review and approve team’s time sheets for payroll and enter data for billing
- Review operational equipment and supply needs for successful execution of all contracted activities
Monthly Activities
- Submit receipts and supporting documents for month end Invoicing
- Support and execute HSE Programs and Initiatives (Compliance)
Skills and Experience
- Previous Supervisory experience with ability to manage 4-6 direct reports
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Health and Safety conscious. Ability to identify and report potential or actual safety issues
- Job Task Hazard Analysis (JTHA), Health and Safety Plan (HASP), Incident Investigation
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Solid Waste & Recycling, Hazardous waste management, transportation, disposal and treatment a plus.
- A strong work ethic, a self-starter, ability to multi-task with attention to detail
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances (5+ miles)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background screen, physical exam, and drug screen
Education and Certifications
- High school education or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license (Required)
- 40hr HAZWOPER (a plus)
- Previous Forklift or heavy equipment experience (Required)
- DOT and RCRA Certifications (a plus)
