Regional Sales Manager

A Regional Sales Manager is responsible to grow, expand, and maintain revenues and clients, and hire/manage/coach/mentor
all Account Managers and Technical Sales Support (TSS’s) within the adding region.  

Accountabilities


  • Hire, train, coach sales team with setting account strategies, crating sales plans, developing proposals, negotiating contracts, and assisting with key client accounts, as needed
  • Assist and mentor Account Managers and Technical Sales Support (TSS) team members to effectively manage their local regions, and help in identifying and closing deals
  • Conduct ongoing recruitment and interviewing of candidates for the purpose of acquiring talent to support the attainment of business objectives.  Responsible for succession planning
  • Regularly call on existing clients, building, and leveraging relationships and improve the organizations competitive position
  • Collaborate with leadership to establish and execute sales and profit goals
  • Manage the overall business portfolio to maximize territory revenues
  • Understand market and competitor activity and respond accordingly
  • Ensure customer satisfaction; promote communications and coordination between operations and customer service to deliver exceptional service to clients
  • Handle disputes and conflicts and troubleshoot with clients (when requested)
  • Actively participate in the development, growth, and retention of the top branch accounts
  • Develop sales force skills by evaluating sales team strengths/weaknesses 
  • Conduct annual Employee Development Plans with team members 
  • Attend department meeting and submit reports (expense reports, sales reports, etc) in a timely manner
  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors
  • Manage a “CRM system” and sales tracking systems
  • Accountable for ongoing forecasting 
  • Understand, accept, and support ACT’s core values and ProACTive Safety Program 

Knowledge, Skills and Ability


  • Business acumen, including budgeting and forecasting skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, listening, persuasion and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Problem-solving attitude

  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms such as Sugar or Salesforce.com
  • A strong work ethic and positive, supportive attitude. Ability to be a self-starter, manage multiple priorities and manage details
  • Strong judgement and decision-making skills
  • Strong customer service orientation 
  • Ability to set clear objectives and measurements 
  • Ability to work through conflict management and settle disputes 
  • Ability to negotiate effectively 
  • Training and presentation skills
  • Previous experience with interviewing, hiring, developing and managing employees
  • Must have working knowledge of hazardous waste disposal and treatment methods
  • Must have working knowledge of regulations that pertain to position (i.e., 29 CFR, 40 CFR, 49 CFT, Title 22 CCR, etc.)

Education/Experience


  • 5+ years of directly managing a geographical diverse staff with sales and revenue responsibilities
  • 5+ years prior sales experience with a proven track record of success in the environmental industry is preferred 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (Technical Science, Chemistry preferred) 
  • Successful track record in account management and development 
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred
