The Team


The People Team is a strategic partner to our rapidly scaling, mission‑driven organization. We design the programs, processes, and culture that enable 100+ (and growing) Tomorrow Health team members to do the best work of their careers. This team manages and optimizes a wide range of functions, including compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, employee engagement, HR systems, and data-driven reporting and analytics. People Operations ensures our workforce is equipped with the resources, understanding, and insights necessary to thrive and drive organizational success.

The Role


We are seeking a Director, People Operations who will set the vision and roadmap for Tomorrow Health's people functions while leading a growing team. Reporting to the VP of Operations, you will translate business strategy into people strategies that accelerate performance, cultivate culture and engagement, and scale people excellence. This role requires a rare blend of strategic foresight, operational rigor, and empathetic leadership.

  • You are fluent across payroll, HRIS, compliance, and talent management, and are familiar with the tools related to each

  • You are comfortable with ambiguity, able to adapt quickly, and demonstrate a high level of initiative and ownership

Responsibilities


  • Develop and execute a People strategy aligned with Tomorrow Health's goals, OKRs, and anticipated growth.
  • Own the design, governance, and continuous improvement of compensation and benefits programs; ensuring a competitive, equitable, and fiscally responsible compensation structure. 
  • Oversee payroll operations and HRIS architecture (Justworks, Carta, Greenhouse, and future systems), ensuring scalability, automation, and data integrity.
  • Architect a data and analytics capability that delivers actionable insights on engagement, performance, retention, and organizational health to executives and managers.
  • Lead the annual performance review cycles; partner with executives to drive continuous maintenance of a high bar across the company. 
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and coach to the executive team on organizational design, change management, and culture.
  • Ensure full compliance with evolving employment laws and regulations across all jurisdictions; proactively manage risk and employee relations matters.
  • Own People Team OKRs, budget, and vendor portfolio, driving continuous improvement and ROI.
  • Partner closely with Finance, Legal, and Operations to align on workforce planning, headcount forecasting, and business priorities.

Requirements


  • 8-10+ years of progressive experience in People Operations capacity, preferably in a mix of tech startups and larger organizations.
  • Expertise across payroll, compensation and benefits, HRIS, compliance, and talent acquisition, and familiarity with tools such as Justworks, Carta, and Greenhouse.
  • Proven ability to build and lead a high‑performing, multidisciplinary People team.
  • Strong command of People analytics and ability to translate data into narratives that influence executive decision‑making.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to balance employee advocacy with company objectives.
  • Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience driving People Team OKRs and performance review cycles.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership and execution.
