Position Purpose:


We are seeking a Palo Alto Security Engineer to join our team of cyber security engineers. This is a consultative, client-facing security engineer role focused on firewall and network-level security using Palo Alto tools. You'll serve as the primary voice guiding both internal and external security best practices, including balancing technical hands-on work with team coordination and process improvement. The ideal candidate leans toward leadership, offering strategic recommendations, prioritizing work, and helping the team scale services across our customer base.

A key initial focus will be refining the best practices assessment workflow to improve efficiency and value delivery.Cyber Security Engineers have a detailed understanding of cyber security methodologies in use in the field. Cyber Security Engineers are expected to have a meticulous attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills, work comfortably under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines. A Cyber Security Engineer must display an excellent understanding of technology infrastructures including Servers, Firewalls, VPN, Data Loss Prevention, IDS/IPS, Vulnerability scans and Security Audits. They will be comfortable working with a variety of technologies, security problems and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:


  • Maintain and upgrade client security and networking devices as needed
  • Consult on best practices for security best practices, both internal for the business and external for customers
  • Provide support for SOC engineers and analysts on PA equipment/software
  • Assist with threat detection and share knowledge across teams
  • Provide pre-sales support, including documentation and installation rollouts
  • Collaborate with project managers on security/network deployments and suggest design changes when necessary
  • Document customer installations and offer ongoing service advice
  • Proactively review and maintain client infrastructure, identifying opportunities for automation
  • Respond to emergencies and troubleshoot production outages
  • Participate in the change management process and test network/system vulnerabilities
  • Handle escalated security issues and act as a technical point of contact during escalated events
  • Research and recommend security enhancements to management
  • Stay up to date on security trends, standards, and best practices
  • Ensure exceptional customer experience by delivering high-quality support and service

Desired Minimum Qualifications:


  • 5+ years of professional experience installing and supporting Palo Alto Security Appliances
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer 7-8 (PCNSE7-8) certification strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of protocols BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, SPT, TRUNKS, VLANs, Port-Channel, Static routing
  • Strong process improvement mindset with the ability to identify and implement workflow enhancements
  • Clear and concise communicator (both verbal and written); able to flag issues and share updates efficiently
  • Networking topologies and protocols. Examples being MPLS, VRF, SIP, Traffic Shaping / QoS
  • Palo Alto Command line
  • Solid networking background and data knowledge
  • A high level of Palo Alto expertise in design, configuration, migrations, tuning and customization of features
  • Strong knowledge of Panorama, WildFire, Global Protect, Cortex XDR, Prisma and other Palo Alto features, including but not limited to: Palo Alto Firewall Devices
  • Familiarity with Data Center environment and hosted deployments/cloud
  • Experience of supporting clients remotely and face to face, along with experience of working with SIP providers
  • Must be flexible to work outside of business hours as per business requirements
  • Ability to stay focused and think clearly when troubleshooting or navigating complex situations
  • Leadership in working autonomously and making sound decisions independently

Nice-to-Have Skills:


  • Experience with the Python programming language
  • Technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Command of network management principles
  • Systems administration of Windows and Linux based operating systems
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, C++, Java, Ruby, bash, Power Shell etc.
  • Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Great awareness of cybersecurity trends and hacking techniques
  • Ability to learn and communicate technical information to non-technical people
