What is the role?
dotCMS is a cloud-based Universal CMS that is changing how enterprises do digital. As a DevRel Engineer, you will need to be highly active on platforms like LinkedIn and GitHub, and are passionate about community building and technical storytelling. This is a hybrid role that combines developer relations, technical content creation, and community support. You will help developers succeed with dotCMS by creating engaging, high-quality content, participating in the developer ecosystem, and facilitating technical conversations in and outside of our community.This is a full-time on-site contractor position based in Karachi.
The work schedule is from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM local time (UTC+05:00), with a one-hour break. We are currently unable to sponsor or assume sponsorship of employment visas. What you’ll bring to the team:
- Maintain a strong public presence across platforms likeLinkedIn, GitHub, and developer forums.
- Produce content that includes documentation, blogs, screencasts, walkthroughs, and short-form dev-focused social media content.
- Experience creating technical content, videos, blogs, tutorials and how-to guides, developer relations articles, and other content for technical user and non-technical user audiences in dotCMS
- Coordinate and participate in programming events, developer webinars, and online community engagement.
- Support and moderate the dotCMS Community Forum and contribute to building a strong developer ecosystem.
- Perform in-depth technical research and stay up to date with emerging technologies to inform content and community strategy.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, Product & Marketing to ensure documentation aligns with platform updates and developer needs.
- Provide technical feedback to product and engineering teams based on community interactions.
Why we get excited about you:
- 4 years of hands-on coding experience in Frontend JavaScript (React, Angular, or Next.js preferred); comfortable reading and writing code.
- Working understanding of Backend concepts, including REST APIs, HTTP, boolean logic, and architectural basics.
- Solid grasp of documentation tools, content management systems, and/or marketing technology.
- Previous experience in technical writing, preferably in a SaaS, devtool, or CMS environment.
- Comfortable on camera and with public speaking—this role involves livestreaming, video creation, and community-facing events.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to simplify complex concepts for varied audiences.
- Active GitHub profile and/or social media presence that reflects involvement in dev communities or projects.
- Curious, proactive, and self-driven with a “builder” mindset.
- A strong sense of curiosity, a love of learning, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves and experiment. The courage to ask supposedly “stupid questions” is underrated!
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or relevant to the field
