Location: 4400 Papa Joe Hendrick Blvd, Charlotte, North Carolina 28262We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced quality engineer to join our operational excellence team in Concord, NC. The role will be responsible for coordinating and executing the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to ensure that components meet customer requirements and internal quality standards. This role plays a critical part in new product development, quality management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage PPAP submissions in accordance with AIAG standards and customer-specific requirements.
  • Work with supplier quality engineer to review and approve supplier PPAP documentation, including process flow diagrams, FMEAs, control plans, dimensional results, material certifications, and capability studies to ensure customer requirements are flowed down to the tiered supply base.
  • Work with suppliers to improve their quality systems and capabilities related to PPAP.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure timely and accurate PPAP submissions.
  • Interface with customers to address concerns and clarify technical or quality-related requirements.
  • Adapt customer requirements into internal specifications
  • Develop and revise internal documentation to ensure customer concerns and requirements are being addressed by internal team
  • Maintain PPAP documentation and ensure all records are organized and compliant with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Participate in change management process to ensure customer and quality requirements are met.
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions on non-conforming products or failed PPAPs.
  • Develop and update process documentation (PF/PFMEA/CP) for the various manufacturing departments and individual components
  • Assist with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities and participate in product launch reviews.
  • Perform component validation testing and report results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and assist with quality improvement activities to improve department and company effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific quality standards.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of AIAG PPAP and APQP methodologies.
  • Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies such as FMEA, SPC, MSA, and 8D.
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and understanding GD&T.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and ERP systems is a plus.
  • Certification such as CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or similar is advantageous.
