Starting Salary: $114,000  Pay Range: $100,921 -$127,228

Schedule:


This position is hybrid and remote eligible for up to 40% of the time.   A typical schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, but may require additional hours outside of the typical schedule to support business needs (year end, month/quarter end, budget, weekend upgrades, etc.).

Purpose:


The Senior Accounting Project Analyst plays a key role in shaping ESL’s financial strategy by managing budgeting, forecasting, regulatory compliance, and internal controls. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, leads the implementation of new accounting standards, and strengthens internal processes to support the credit union’s growth. Acting as a technical accounting expert, this role provides guidance on complex transactions, regulatory changes, and process improvements while collaboratingwith cross-functional teams.

Accountabilities:


Budgeting and Forecasting


  • Oversee non-interest income and expense budgeting and forecasting cycles
  • Maintain and optimize the Axiom financial reporting and budgeting platform
  • Support end users in data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Develop financial models, reports, and presentations to support decision making
  • Identify and recommend process and system enhancements for financial planning

Technical Accounting Subject Matter Expert (SME)


  • Assess and implement new accounting standards and regulatory changes
  • Maintain technical accounting memos, documenting assumptions and conclusions
  • Advise internal teams on emerging accounting and reporting matters
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and training for internal stakeholders

Compliance and Risk Management


  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive internal control framework for financial reporting
  • Monitor, test, and refine financial reporting controls for effectiveness
  • Identify and remediate financial reporting gaps to ensure compliance

Corporate Projects


  • Lead or represent accounting in corporate projects and strategic initiatives
  • Oversee the evaluation and implementation of process improvements

Continuously develop skills and advance expertise


  • Stay current with industry trends, accounting standards, and compliance updates
  • Participate in training, certifications, and professional growth opportunities

Qualifications:


  • BA or BS in accounting, finance, business administration or related fields required
  • Minimum 5 years of directly related experience 
  • OR a minimum of 3 years of related experienced and Master's degree or CPA in lieu of years of experience
  • Understanding of NCUA, SEC FINRA policies, procedures and regulation and their applicability to ESL Federal Credit Union and Subsidiaries

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified internal auditor (CIA)
  • Proficiency in US GAAP compliance, financial controls, and risk management
  • Advanced Excel skills (modeling, formulas, data analysis) and financial planning systems (Axiom, Prologue preferred)
  • Experience in financial services, banking, or public accounting
  • Critical thinker with a proactive approach to solving complex financial challenges
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining high accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with accounting teams and business partners
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights
