Senior Network Security Engineer (4308)

Senior Network Security Engineers to protect and maintain critical infrastructure for a federal law enforcement agency. You’ll play a hands-on role implementing advanced cybersecurity controls, responding to real-time threats, and fortifying connectivity across hybrid enterprise environments. This position is ideal for professionals who thrive under pressure, bring deep technical knowledge of security protocols and networking technologies, and are passionate about enabling secure law enforcement operations.

This position is hybrid supporting a Clarksburg, WV program and requires an active Top-Secret clearance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Monitor and secure LAN/WAN infrastructure, including VPNs, cloud access points, and secure web gateways.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve security issues across routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) and firewalls, proxies, and gateways.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments, risk analyses, and contribute to security certification and compliance readiness.
  • Implement and tune security configurations, conduct account management, and ensure continuous log monitoring and patching.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation of identified issues.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to implement proactive network defense strategies.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, incidents, procedures, and mitigation plans using Jira and Confluence.

Required Skills & Experience


  • Minimum 3 years of experience with at least 2 years of current hands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting networked systems.
  • Strong technical background in networking and cybersecurity.
  • Proficiency with Linux/Unix-based operating systems.
  • Experience with application-layer and network protocols including RTP, RTSP, FTP, DNS, HTTP, and DHCP.
  • Knowledge of enterprise firewall, proxy, VPN, and intrusion prevention systems.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using Scrum, XP, Kanban, and SAFe.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Top-Secret clearance.

Desired Skills & Experience


  • CompTIA Security+ (preferred)
  • CASP+ or Cisco Certified Cybersecurity Associate (CCCA) (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
