Senior Network Analyst (4307)

SMX is seeking a Senior Network Analyst to join a high-performing team supporting a mission-critical network environment for a federal law enforcement agency. This role requires deep technical expertise in cloud, routing, and security protocols to support real-time operations across complex WAN/LAN architectures. As a key player in a 24/7 environment, you will monitor, analyze, and resolve network performance issues while ensuring secure and scalable connectivity across on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Monitor network infrastructure in a 24x7x365 environment and respond to performance issues, outages, or security events.
  • Design and review LAN/WAN/cloud network blueprints for scalability, performance, and compliance.
  • Identify root causes of connectivity or throughput issues and implement optimizations across routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Perform in-depth traffic analysis and tune configurations to improve Quality of Service (QoS) and reliability.
  • Document all network changes, incidents, and configurations in Jira, Confluence, and other approved repositories.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, security operations, and external partners to ensure operational continuity.
  • Contribute to ongoing modernization initiatives, cloud integrations, and disaster recovery readiness planning.

Required Skills & Experience


  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VPN, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and QoS protocols.
  • Experience with WAN/LAN connectivity and enterprise networking hardware (routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls).
  • Incident management and escalation experience in mission-critical environments.
  • Ability to analyze complex network data and resolve performance or security issues under pressure.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills for shift turnover and senior-level reporting.
  • Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, Kanban, Jira, Confluence, and SAFe.

Desired Skills & Experience


  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) preferred.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or IT preferred.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as Splunk, Cisco Catalyst Center, and Riverbed.
