CareDx, Inc. is a leading precision medicine solutions company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of clinically differentiated, high-value healthcare solutions for transplant patients and caregivers. CareDx offers products, testing services, and digital healthcare solutions along the pre- and post-transplant patient journey, and is the leading provider of genomics-based information for transplant patients.
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of lung transplant patients? CareDx is seeking a dynamic, experienced Marketing Director to lead its Lung Organ franchise—owning strategy and execution end-to-end, with a strong focus on engaging and supporting Transplant Pulmonologists, the most critical stakeholder group in this space. This role spans a broad range of internal and external partners, all united with the goal of improving patient outcomes through innovative, data-driven solutions. In this high-impact role, you’ll champion the awareness, belief, adoption, and follow-through on CareDx’s cutting-edge lab tests and services throughout the transplant ecosystem.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Brand Marketing, you’ll craft and drive integrated marketing plans that not only hit growth targets but also respond to dynamic market needs—surfacing through insights, data, and collaboration. You’ll work side-by-side with teams across Marketing, Medical Affairs, MLR, Sales, Product, Digital, and Sales Training to create smart, compelling programs, tools, and messaging. You'll also team up with the broader brand, product, and digital teams to ensure smooth, strategic launches for new products, initiatives, and campaigns.

Responsibilities include:

  • Strategic and Annual Planning - Develop and execute integrated, insight-driven marketing strategies to drive growth and strengthen CareDx’s leadership in transplant diagnostics. Focus on market shaping initiatives: leverage sales data, market research, competitive intelligence, and KOL feedback to identify key opportunities and challenges. Own the annual marketing plan and 3 year brand plan for the Lung portfolio, aligning with business goals to address needs of customers and marketplace. Plans should reflect a deep understanding of the clinical landscape, reimbursement dynamics, and the patient journey, with flexibility to adapt to market shifts and new evidence.  Partner with lifecycle management team to ensure evolving marketplace dynamics inform product development planning.
  • Promotional Strategy & Execution - Develop compelling messaging and promotional strategies to engage key stakeholders—including HCPs, care team, KOLs, and patients—and drive awareness, adoption, and adherence to CareDx solutions like AlloSure®.  Lead the creation and deployment of print and digital assets, such as sales aids, speaker decks, email campaigns, and website content, ensuring consistent branding and alignment with clinical data. Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Sales Training, and Digital teams to ensure materials are accurate, effective, and tailored to transplant centers and community pulmonology practices.
  • KOL Engagement & Educational Initiatives – Brand lead in the planning and execution of KOL advisory boards, speaker bureaus, and peer-to-peer education programs to strengthen advocacy and expand awareness of AlloSure Lung. Partner with Medical Affairs to translate clinical data into clear, differentiated messaging that supports evidence-based adoption of surveillance protocols. These initiatives should position CareDx as a trusted leader in transplant care and reinforce its commitment to improving long-term patient outcomes.
  • Resource Allocation & Effectiveness - Evaluate the use and impact of promotional resources to ensure marketing efforts drive measurable results and align with CareDx’s growth goals. Track campaign ROI using KPIs like test adoption, engagement, and market share to refine strategies and optimize spend. Collaborate with Sales, Medical Affairs, and Digital teams to ensure insights guide adjustments. Lead the development of rapid-response materials—such as one-pagers, objection handlers, competitive talking points, and HCP updates—to address competitive launches, new clinical data, regulatory changes, and market shifts, keeping CareDx agile and well-positioned in transplant diagnostics.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Agency Management - Partner closely with Sales Training to ensure field teams are fully equipped to deliver consistent, impactful messaging and maximize the use of marketing materials in customer engagements. Work hand-in-hand with external agencies and creative partners, providing clear briefs, strategic context, brand guidelines, and actionable feedback to drive high-quality, on-brand execution. Collaborate across internal teams—including Product Management, Medical Affairs, Digital, and Compliance—to align on strategy, ensure initiatives are launched on time, remain medically accurate, and meet regulatory standards, while maintaining agility to adapt to market dynamics.
  • Compliance & Budget Management - Oversee the MLR (Medical, Legal, Regulatory) review process to ensure all marketing materials meet CareDx’s standards for clinical accuracy, brand integrity, and regulatory compliance. Partner closely with cross-functional teams to streamline approval workflows, minimize cycle times, and maintain full alignment with industry regulations and company policies. Lead marketing budget planning, forecasting, and tracking, ensuring efficient allocation of resources while maintaining flexibility to respond to evolving market needs. Balance cost-efficiency with the delivery of high-quality, high-impact campaigns and materials that advance CareDx’s brand, growth, and business objectives.
  • Location - This role will be hybrid, with the expectation that the Marketing Director will be on-site at CareDx’s Brisbane, CA office three days per week to stay closely connected to the team, cross-functional partners, and company culture. While there is some flexibility to live outside the immediate Bay Area, the role requires a regular in-office presence for collaboration, planning, and execution. This structure supports a balance between focused, in-person engagement and occasional remote work, while ensuring strong alignment, visibility, and impact across the organization.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Marketing Experience - At least 8-10 years of relevant marketing experience in diagnostics, biotech, pharma, or medical device industries, with a proven track record of leadership and strategic impact. Strong background in developing strategic, data-driven marketing plans for complex diagnostic or therapeutic products. A proven track record of engaging healthcare professionals (HCPs), key opinion leaders (KOLs), and cross-functional teams, translating clinical data into compelling promotional messaging. Applies market insights to inform pipeline strategy and optimize lifecycle planning. Familiarity with market research methodologies and able to lead complex research projects. Experience leading multichannel campaigns, including digital and social media, and navigating the MLR review process in a highly regulated environment is essential. Additionally, this marketer must be comfortable with budget management, agency collaboration, and driving protocol adherence and pull-through.
  • Health Care/Life Sciences – Experience in a regulated, consumer-facing healthcare environment is strongly preferred—ideally in Diagnostics, Genomics, Life Sciences. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance, data privacy regulations, and the MLR review process is essential. Candidates should have a proven ability to translate complex clinical or scientific data into clear, impactful marketing strategies that drive adoption, adherence, and behavior change across both HCP and patient audiences. Backgrounds in Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, OTC Medicines, or Rare Disease marketing are also highly relevant, particularly given their similar stakeholder complexity, patient engagement needs, and regulatory demands. Experience in Chronic Disease Management, Transplant Medicine, or Specialty Care is a strong plus.
  • Leadership & Cross-Functional Influence – The Lung Director must be a strong peer leader, self-starter, and collaborator that works effectively across Product, Sales, Clinical, Medical Affairs, and Regulatory to ensure promotional content is clinically accurate, compliant, and strategically aligned. The ideal candidate excels at turning strategy into action, driving alignment across stakeholder groups, and executing initiatives that support both revenue growth and improved patient outcomes. Success in this role requires the ability to influence without authority and thrive in a matrixed, mission-driven organization.
  • Education - A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a strong preference for candidates who hold a BA/BS in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, or Clinical Science, reflecting a solid foundation in healthcare or scientific disciplines relevant to CareDx’s mission. An MBA or other advanced degree (such as a Master’s in Public Health, Marketing, or Health Administration) is also preferred, demonstrating advanced training in strategic thinking, business acumen, and cross-functional leadership—key attributes for driving impact in a complex, data-driven, and highly regulated healthcare environment.

Life at CareDx

CareDx: Transforming Transplant Patient Care Through Novel Surveillance Management Solutions CareDx, Inc. is dedicated to improving the lives of organ transplant patients through non-invasive diagnostics. By combining the latest advances in genomics and bioinformatics technology, with a commitment to generating high quality clinical evidence through trials and registries, CareDx is at the forefront of organ transplant surveillance and pre-transplant HLA typing solutions. NASDAQ:CDNA About AlloSure® AlloSure is the first and only non-invasive blood test that directly measures allograft injury and identifies the probability of active rejection to better manage kidney transplant patients. AlloSure is a clinical-grade, proprietary Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) based test to detect donor-derived cell-free DNA (dd-cfDNA) in order to identify organ injury in kidney transplant recipients. AlloSure is analytically validated as a sensitive, specific, and precise measurement of dd-cfDNA. AlloSure detects active rejection (acute active ABMR, chronic active ABMR, or TCMR) with high accuracy, outperforms serum creatinine in kidney transplant recipients, and is highly sensitive in distinguishing ABMR from no ABMR. AlloSure is performed in the CareDx CLIA-certified laboratory. http://www.allosure.com/ About AlloMap® AlloMap Molecular Expression Testing is a non-invasive blood test used to aid in the identification of heart transplant recipients with stable allograft function who have a low probability of moderate/severe acute cellular rejection at the time of testing in conjunction with standard clinical assessment. AlloMap testing measures the expression levels of 20 genes from a blood sample. The combined expression of these genes is represented as an AlloMap test score. AlloMap is performed in the CareDx CLIA-certified laboratory and has been commercially available in the United States since 2005. AlloMap was cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2008 and was CE marked for the European Union in 2011. Use of AlloMap is also included in the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) Practice Guidelines, published in August 2010, the worldwide standard for the care of heart transplant patients. http://www.allomap.com/
