PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful applicant will join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as a Sr Electronics Engineer Technician in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division. The applicant will be responsible for performing work on a broad scope and complexity in providing support to the U.S. Navy’s Magnetic Silencing Facility (MSF) Program Management and their efforts to upgrade the capabilities of MSF Souda Bay. The position, which is located at Magnetic Silencing Facility, Naval Station Souda Bay Crete, involves providing on-site assistance with planning and coordination with various entities at the work site, tracking and validating shipments thru customs, inspecting and testing arriving equipment and collaborate with upgrade installation personnel on any issues regarding the upgrade site.
In addition, the applicant will use their extensive expertise to provide mentorship to the new personnel that are assigned to manage and operate MSF Souda Bay. The successful applicant will reside in Souda Bay Crete and will not receive relocation expenses.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Provide assistance to the MSF program manager on the MSF Souda Bay upgrade project
- Planning and coordination, tracking shipments thru customs, inspecting and testing equipment, support MSF Upgrade Team.
- Interface, with Greek Hellenic Navy Senior Officials, Greek Port Operations, USN Souda Bay Port Operations, and Port Operations Naples, Italy and other local authorities that are pertinent to the project.
- Provide support for MSF operations
- Provide guidance and coaching to junior MSF technician on MSF operation, and shipboard degaussing systems operation and support
- Provide instruction and training to shipboard personnel regarding their respective shipboard degaussing systems
- Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting expertise to maintain MSF system readiness and sustainment when required
- Provide guidance to MSF personnel on interaction with local authorities and Navy fleet assets
- Provide guidance on requirements given in OPNAV policies with respect to Magnetic Silencing

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of experience working as an electronic technician at MSF
- Has a vast working knowledge of the following procedures: check ranging, degaussing coil correction, ranging, deperming of surface vessels, magnetic compass compensation, shipboard inspection/testing for advanced and traditional degaussing systems.
- Has an extensive knowledge of OPNAV policies and guidelines with respect to Magnetic Silencing
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially in using MS Word, MS EXCEL and MS PowerPoint and MSF Specific software
- Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills
SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to understand and operate current Magnetic Silencing Facility hardware and software
- Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair shipboard degaussing systems
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and work in a dynamic environment
- Some travel will be required
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation. Current DOD security clearance or successful background investigation completion is a plus.
