Job Summary:
We are looking for a Sr. Tax Manager to join our Tax Team. The Tax group is a dedicated team of professionals who work in conjunction with our wealth advisors to provide tax compliance services to our high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients. We are looking for someone who loves client service but does not enjoy the headaches of billable hours in a traditional public accounting firm. We do not do audits or assurance work, and there are no business development requirements.As a member of the Tax Team, the Sr. Tax Manager is primarily responsible for leading client relationships, reviewing and delivering income tax returns, tax projections, and analysis for our clients. The Sr. Tax Manager has a passion for client service with experience in individual and entity tax preparation and review. The Sr. Tax Manager is personable, demonstrates superior communication skills, and possesses the flexibility to multi-task in a fast-paced tax services environment.This role benefits from a flexible work from home schedule. You will have the flexibility to work from home or in the office, and there will be coordinated visits to the office to collaborate with the team.
Essential Job Functions will include:
- Research, analyze, review and sign tax returns for individual, trust, and business tax returns for HNW and UHNW clients.
- Provide insight on clients’ current entity structures, family businesses, entity level tax issues and philanthropic strategies.
- Analyze, prepare, review, or adjust quarterly estimates and projections as needed.
- Responsible for clear & concise communication with clients on all matters related to the delivery of income tax returns.
- Responsible for timely and accurate response to tax questions, estimates, projections, and analysis.
- Work with tax staff to respond to tax notices and review of taxing agency correspondence.
- Stays up to date on tax law and any changes, as well as researching and communicating the effects of the law changes to clients.
- Mentoring responsibility for a team of Senior Tax Associates, Tax Associates, and/or Tax Support Specialists in the local office or region, as assigned.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum 7+ years of public accounting experience, or equivalent experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Strong tax code knowledge and general accounting skills
- CPA and/or EA required
- Advanced degree preferred (e.g., MST, JD, LLM, CFP)
- Experience with UltraTax and SurePrep a plus
- Highly organized and tax-oriented
- Ability to communicate concepts to clients and advisors in concise and understandable fashion
- Must be detail-oriented and have excellent time-management skills
- Client first attitude including a passion for providing an excellent client experience
Location:
Preference for the West Coast region.
Work Schedule:
This professional role requires availability during standard business hours of Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM, and Saturdays as needed during tax season. At times, the role may have early or late hours to meet business tasks and deadlines for external and internal client needs.
Working Conditions:
This position may be in a professional office environment or a dedicated home office workspace which is free of interruptions. Whether position is in a dedicated office space or home office workspace, basic technology needs will be provided to satisfy position requirements. Routinely sitting and standing for periods of time. No heavy lifting over 10 lbs.
