Position Summary


The Outreach Specialist is a trusted advocate and educator, raising awareness about Health and Wellness, Behavioral Health, HIV/STI Prevention, and other Prisma Community Care services while helping individuals navigate and access the care they need. This role will represent Prisma at events, community spaces, and online platforms to amplify our message and inspire action. This position requires a high level of flexibility to attend evening and weekend events and assignments.The Outreach Specialist supports the Prisma Community Care mission of providing affirming and inclusive services to promote well-being and advance health equity for diverse communities and all those seeking compassionate care - especially people of color, 2SLGBTQIA+ and Queer individuals, and those affected by HIV.

What your day will look like at Prisma Community Care:


  • You will collaborate with the Outreach team to plan and execute engaging events and outreach activities, including HIV/STI testing, condom distribution, and educational and informational workshops and activities.
  • You will be a visible and welcoming presence in the community-building relationships, providing referrals and championing Prisma’s services across primary care, behavioral health, prevention services and more. 
  • You will develop and share content on social media to educate, raise awareness, and drive community engagement. 
  • You will participate in outreach tabling, presentations, and pop-up health events.
  • You will deliver clear, culturally competent, and stigma-free information on sexual health, harm reduction, and healthcare resources.
  • You will train, coordinate, and support community volunteers and peer educators.
  • You will accurately document interactions and services for reporting and program evaluation.
  • You will support ongoing community programs like the Nice Package initiative, volunteer recruitment, Flow Bar, and marketing health campaigns.
  • You will serve as a passionate ambassador for Prisma’s mission of health equity and inclusion.

Requirements

Who we're looking for:


  • You've graduated from high school diploma or GED.
  • You possess a valid driver's license, insurable driving record, and access to reliable transportation for work-related activities.
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • You have experience working with diverse and 2SLBGTQIA+ communities.
  • You have the ability to work flexible hours, including evening and weekend hours.
  • You must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

We'd love to see you apply if you have these preferred qualifications too:


  • You have 2+ years of customer-facing, outreach, or community engagement experience.
  • You are familiar with the Phoenix-area neighborhoods and community dynamics.
  • You have knowledge of HIV prevention, PrEP, and harm reduction principles.
  • You are Bilingual (English / Spanish).
  • You are familiar with social media content creation and community engagement experience.

Environmental Factors, Physical Requirements, and Compliance


  • This is an hourly, full-time (40 hours/week) position that includes direct client contact, and will also provide field-based direct services. This position requires a flexible work schedule, including normal business hours and frequent evening and weekend hours.
  • Work will occur both in a climate-controlled environment and out of the office in settings such as bars, outdoor festivals, and community events. This position is required to work in a variety of climate conditions in outdoor spaces.
  • This position requires being able to lift and move a minimum of 50lbs. 
  • This position requires frequent standing, walking, and speaking to community members.
  • Currently have, or be able to obtain within 90 days of employment, a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Currently have, or are able to obtain within 7 days of employment, a clear TB test
  • Currently have, or are able to obtain within 7 days of employment, a current flu vaccination
  • Currently have, or are able to initiate within 7 days of employment, a Hepatitis-B primary vaccination series
  • Currently have, or are able to obtain within 14 days of employment, a CPR certification
