JOB SUMMARY
The Survey Equipment Specialist should have prior civil and pipeline experience and can work primarily in the Houston office under the supervision of Survey Manager. The successful candidate will perform duties related to managing survey field equipment, provide survey technical support to field personnel, and can perform survey projects in the field as needed. The primary job duty will be managing survey equipment and supporting survey field crew work. This position must have flexibility and availability for occasional overnight travel as required by the project/client.
Per diem will be paid if applicable.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES OF THE JOB
- Maintains and updates the survey equipment inventory log.
- Issues survey equipment and supplies to field personnel.
- Serves as the main point of contact for survey equipment troubleshooting.
- Responsible for all survey equipment maintenance.
- Works with equipment and survey supply vendors.
- Ensures that equipment is scheduled for quarterly calibration.
- Responsible for filling equipment requests.
- Ensures adherence to company and project specifications as they relate to both conventional and GPS survey methods/procedures.
- Trains field personnel on company surveying standards and procedures.
- Performs survey work in the field for projects as needed. Per diem will be paid if applicable.

- Provides professional and courteous service to employees and external clients and other contacts.
- Must possess a current, valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to corporate insurer.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Availability and flexibility to travel overnight, depending on project needs and requirements.
- Proficient working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, topographic maps, tax/parcel maps, plats and deed descriptions.
- Strong working knowledge of both conventional and survey/mapping-grade GPS survey equipment and methods.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 5 years of direct job-related experience as a Survey Party Chief or Survey Supervisor.
- Must be familiar with GPS and conventional surveys.
- Must be familiar with pipeline construction practices and be proficient with the utilization of GPS electronic survey data collection units and conventional survey equipment.
- Possess a detailed knowledge and expertise such that basic equipment repairs or configuration changes can be made without resorting to off-site support. Equipment may include but not be limited to: Optical Total station, Trimble GPS equipment and data collectors, chain saws and pipe locators, (Metrotech 850 and RD8000).
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus.

Candidates should belocal to the Greater Houston, Texas area as this position will be working in our office some days and will be needed to travel occasionally for project specific assignments. Per diem will be eligible for jobs meeting IRS travel guidelines.
