Generation Tux is seeking an experienced Business Data Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in all aspects of data analytics, including mining, generation, and visualization. Geroge created the company in 2014 to provide high-quality tuxedo and suit rentals, competitively priced, and in the most convenient way possible -- shipped directly to your door.The Director of Data & Analytics will lead our data strategy, tooling, and execution across all departments. This role requires a mix of technical expertise, strategic insight, and team leadership. The Director will manage a growing team of data analysts and will partner closely with executive leadership to drive data-informed decision-making and long-term growth.
Responsibilities
- Own the data and analytics roadmap, working with cross-functional leaders to prioritize initiatives aligned with company objectives
- Lead the development and maintenance of scalable reporting systems, dashboards, and data pipelines that support teams across Marketing, Sales, Product, and Operations
- Translate complex data into strategic insights and storytelling that inform decision-making at the leadership level
- Design and guide experimentation frameworks (A/B testing, holdouts) to measure the impact of business strategies and new features
- Collaborate with executive leadership to establish KPIs, build scorecards, and identify growth levers across the business
- Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of analysts and data professionals
- Stay current with emerging data technologies, tools, and industry trends to ensure the company remains data-forward
- Partner with Engineering to design, optimize, and maintain robust data pipelines, ETL processes, and scalable data warehouse solutions
- Evaluate and implement tools for data governance, quality monitoring, and documentation to ensure consistency and trust across reporting sources
- Own the roadmap for analytics tooling and data infrastructure improvements, balancing short-term reporting needs with long-term scalability
- Ensure data accessibility and self-service reporting capabilities across the organization through thoughtful architecture and platform enablement
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in data analytics and operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- 3+ years expertise in SQL (MySQL, Postgres) and familiarity with BI platforms (Metabase, Mode, Looker)
- 2+ years coding experience in Python for data science
- Proven experience managing data infrastructure and working with modern data stacks as well as some legacy code/systems
- Strong understanding of data architecture, modeling, and best practices for designing scalable analytics environments
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate, implement, and optimize BI tools and platforms to meet growing business needs
- Familiarity with concepts of data governance, security, and compliance, with experience implementing processes to ensure data quality and consistency
- Strong grasp of statistical analysis, experimentation, and modeling, including examples of working with or leading teams using notebooks (such as Jupyter) and Python (such as Pandas) or similar tooling for data science
- Experience with data cleaning, machine learning (regression, boosted trees, neural networks, random forest) and data security (encryption at rest, encryption in flight)
- Proven experience managing and scaling a data function in a fast-paced, high-growth, startup-minded environment
- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, or marketing analytics is highly desirable
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, etc.) or equivalent work experience
- Travel up to 10% for team collaboration, leadership offsites, or strategic planning sessions as needed
Nice to Have
- Experience with larger data warehouse / data lake systems that are SQL capable
- Experience with an AWS/Google Linux-based environment rather than Microsoft Azure
- Experience working within a software company or software function in a larger company (as opposed to IT)
- Experience implementing and following Agile practices as part of an overall process
