Baylor Genetics is a pivotal player in supporting medical decision-making and furnishing individuals and families with invaluable genetic information.We are seeking a data/software engineer with strong knowledge and hands-on experience in genetic knowledge management, data engineering, and software engineering to develop and maintain our comprehensive genetic knowledgebases. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to architect, engineer, and develop curation tools for our proprietary clinical insight knowledgebase as a part of our core data value proposition and integrate this knowledge into our clinical diagnostics workflows.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, a comparable program, or an equivalent qualification, with 3+ years of comprehensive experience in related field.
- Experience:
- Experience in programming languages.
- Experience in data ETL, data management, and data sharing for genomic and clinical applications, especially for next generation sequencing data.
- Knowledgeable of database management systems in Microsoft SQL Server.
- Understanding of database architecture, design, and optimization.
- DevOps experience such as unit testing, CI/CD is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implementation and execution of data ETL, management and engineering.
- Development of user interfaces for curation and data maintenance tools based on user requirements.
- Enhance data and knowledge processing effectiveness and efficiency, and improve workflows for internal data analysis, interpretation, and clinical report writing in daily production clinical operations.
- Implementation of data models and software frameworks to effectively store and process data, information, and clinical insights.
- Monitor database performance and proactively optimize queries and processes for improved efficiency.
- Collaborates in a multidisciplinary and regulated clinical diagnostics environment with geneticists, bioinformaticians, software engineers, and IT infrastructure professionals.
