ABOUT THE ROLE 🤹‍♀️


The Director of Product Design is a passionate design leader who champions craft, quality, and continuous learning. They define the vision for growing a design team that delivers exceptional experiences by nurturing individual potential, elevating design excellence, and creating transformative solutions for members and internal team members. This role goes beyond traditional management, focusing on upskilling team members, driving design innovation, and building a culture of continuous improvement and strategic design thinking.

Responsibilities


  • Cultivate a design team culture that prioritizes craft, quality, and continuous learning
  • Champion design excellence by developing and implementing robust design strategies that deliver exceptional value to members and drive business growth
  • Lead through storytelling and vision, connecting design strategy to tangible, impactful work
  • Drive user-centric experiences by establishing and guiding best practices in design methodology
  • Develop deep, nuanced understanding of customer problems and organizational context to identify innovative improvement opportunities
  • Create comprehensive professional development programs that upskill team members and attract top design talent
  • Design and implement performance measurement frameworks that track design impact and team growth
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages cross-functional innovation and problem-solving
  • Measure value to our members by directing priorities and that identify member needs, met and unmet by current digital products
  • Develop highly innovative solutions and recommend to executive leadership for prioritization
  • Continuously investigate and evaluate innovative design techniques and process improvement methodologies
  • Serve as a thought leader by presenting team achievements, case studies, and design innovations internally and externally

ABOUT YOU 🦄


Minimum Qualifications


  • 10+ years of experience designing UX solutions for software, web applications and/or mobile native apps
  • 5+ years of experience managing other design professionals
  • Demonstrated ability with recruiting, hiring and retaining multidisciplinary design teams
  • Demonstrated ability leading designers, with a proven track record of building and managing strong, effective design teams
  • Demonstrated ability in creating designs that create a competitive advantage and measure the effectiveness of designs with end users
  • Demonstrated ability in working with design tools such as Figma
  • Demonstrated ability to design digital products, services and experiences for effective and efficient human use
  • Demonstrated ability in influencing product direction through a deep understanding of user needs and usability
  • Demonstrated ability in collaborating with multiple disciplines, such as product, engineering and data analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of the end-to-end iterative product design process, including how to use wireframing, prototyping, user testing and high-fidelity visuals to communicate design intent
  • Demonstrated ability in best practices, key findings and evidence-based rationalization of UX design decisions
  • Knowledge of balancing human behaviors, technology capabilities and business needs to deliver measurable design solutions

Additional information: Salary range of $180,000 - $260,000/year + bonus + benefits.
