Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Accountant ensures compliance with grant contracts and compliance with Agency financial procedures and policies. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the generation of accurate financial information.Essential Functions:

  • Prepares and inputs into agency accounting system bi-monthly journal entries for salary payroll allocations, payroll corrections and timecard corrections, as necessary. Reviews bi-monthly payroll journal entry for accurate coding and fund allocations.
  • Prepares and inputs into agency accounting system month-end journal entries for operating cost allocations, prepaids, amortizations, depreciation and other items, as necessary. 
  • Prepares monthly Philanthropy ACH report with data from bank accounts and donor perfect.

  • Reviews grant contract billings and tracks grant receivables.
  • Reviews and monitors general ledger for accurate coding and fund allocation. 
  • Maintains fixed asset schedule.
  • Responsible for reconciliation of balance sheet accounts including payroll liabilities, all bank account reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Assists the CFO with preparation of quarterly financial statements, financial highlights, budget variance, accounts receivable reports, and trend analysis reports. 
  • Assists with annual agency audit preparation, including confirmations, reconciliations, and other auditor-requested schedules.
  • In Chief Financial Officer’s absence will work with Leadership to develop and sustain working relationships with grant contract managers, banking personnel and other fiscal contacts as necessary.
  • Identifies and analyzes problems and inefficiencies, recommends solutions and effects implementation.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all Divisions in the Agency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with major course work in Accounting.
  • Three or more years of progressive Accounting related experience. 
  • Extensive hands-on knowledge of accounting software.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills with individuals and public speaking.
  • Able to take initiative, make sound decisions, assume ownership and accountability for issues, problems, projects, and assignments within the position and WEAVE’s general policy guidelines.
  • Works well under pressure while exhibiting a professional role model to all staff and volunteers.
  • Able to prioritize workload effectively and efficiently, meeting deadlines and assignment requirements.
  • Work flexible hours, as needed.
  • Establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relations with those contacted in the course of work at all levels, including a culturally diverse general public, regulatory agencies, special interest groups, staff and volunteers.

  • Utilize Microsoft Office, including Word & Excel for Windows, and accounting software.

Local travel (driving) will be required to conduct meetings and other activities at various area locations. Employees may need to move around and between floors, occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 lbs., or reach items above their head, below their waist, or stored in/on drawers and shelves.  Employees may also need to remain in one position (i.e. sitting or standing) for an extended period while completing work tasks. Must be able to efficiently operate a keyboard and mouse or adaptive equivalent, write reports, take notes; utilize desk tools such as phones or calculators, and utilize larger office equipment such as printers and copy machines; communicate clearly and concisely with others; and apply above average reasoning and attention to detail as required in the accomplishment of job duties.
