Software Engineer Intern (AI)

Skyryse One, our first production aircraft powered by SkyOS, was unveiled in 2024 and features the simplest, safest, and most intuitive flight controls in general aviation.
This internship is based in our El Segundo office. As an Engineering Intern on our Software Engineering Team, you will take part in designing, developing and integrating our SkyOS software. You will be given projects and tasks to help develop, enhance throughput and develop tools for the flight software.The Summer Intern Program will run for 12 weeks starting in May / June depending on your academic calendar. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Conduct cutting-edge generative AI and NLP research in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Contribute to the design of AI-driven features that enhance user experience and product functionality for aerospace applications
  • Design new agent architectures to improve end-to-end performance of AI workflows
  • Design, run, and evaluate experiments to improve LLMs on various NLP benchmarks
  • Execute data engineering tasks to curate data for LLM pre-training, fine-tuning, RAG
  • Integrate and evaluate models with multi-modal capabilities for different verticals
  • Read conference papers on generative AI and knowledge retrieval to understand and evaluate new research in the space
  • Replicate, evaluate, and integrate theoretical data-curation approaches, fine-tuning algorithms, and agent architectures from research papers into real products
  • Understand and apply responsible AI practices, including considerations of bias, fairness, and data privacy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Currently enrolled in a university pursuing your Bachelors or Masters in an engineering discipline (Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar)
  • Graduating between December 2025 & June 2027
  • Proficiency in Natural Language Processing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • PhD Student studying Computer Science (or similar)
  • Prior internship experience in aviation a bonus 
  • Piloting experience a bonus
