Job Summary
The Valve Technical Quote Representative is responsible for providing timely, professional, and accurate technical product solutions for valve inquiries to ensure a positive customer experience with existing and prospective customers. This role requires technical expertise, customer service excellence, and strong collaboration with Account Managers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Development
- Maintain 100% commitment to all safety policies and procedures.
- Create accurate and timely quotes.
- Follow up on all quotations to drive conversion.
- Offer customers additional products to complement current products or services.
- Utilize the AMP program to ensure maximum margins are achieved.
- Partner with Account Managers to provide accurate and competitive sales quotes.
Solution Delivery & Technical Support
- Process incoming RFQs into the company sales system (P21).
- Quote customers utilizing working knowledge of industrial valve products.
- Ensure accurate pricing through customer and national contracts.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure promise date fulfillment.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and distributors to ensure timely responses.
- Support internal customers by ensuring their needs are met and assist colleagues in managing client relationships.
Communication & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
- Ensure customer inquiries are handled professionally and promptly.
- Foster effective communication across teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
Training & Collaboration
- Support continuous training and product knowledge development.
- Assist in the onboarding and mentoring of new team members.
Requirements
Position RequirementsEducation and Experience
- 5-7 years of experience in the industrial valve business.
- Experience working within valve distribution.
- Experience and understanding of specifications for quarter-turn valves and valve actuation.
- College degree preferred; will consider equivalent experience.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong technical product knowledge within the valve product group.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive in quote retrieval and follow-up.
- Proficient in math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, internet research, and email communication.
- Ability to utilize company sales software (P21) effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Frequent use of computer and phone.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
- Occasional lifting of files, product literature, or demo materials (up to 25 lbs).
- May occasionally require visits to industrial environments.
