Lovelytics is a Databricks-focused data and AI consulting firm specializing in artificial intelligence, data, and analytics solutions. Since partnering with Databricks in 2019, Lovelytics has experienced exponential growth, growing from 50 people to over 340 over the past 3 years. Lovelytics is a trusted partner for many of the most high-profile enterprise clients in Media & Entertainment, Manufacturing, Retail & CPG, Healthcare & Life Sciences, and Financial Services.
The General Counsel will be responsible for managing and overseeing all legal matters across Lovelytics, including contracting, employment law, corporate governance, and risk management. This role will balance protecting the company with enabling business success, which will require a proactive, business-minded, and solutions-oriented approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Contracting: Review, negotiate, and finalize contracts (MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, partner agreements) in collaboration with the sales and delivery teams.
- Risk Management: Ensure Lovelytics is legally protected at all times through updated policies, templates, and processes.
- Employment Law Support: Partner with the HR team on employment-related legal issues, including offer letters, terminations, compliance, and employment policies.
- External Counsel Strategy: Develop and manage an effective strategy for when and how to use outside counsel for specialized or overflow needs.
- Corporate Governance: Support corporate filings, internal policies, and compliance requirements as the company scales.
- Internal Education and Communication: Provide education, communication, and guidance to the Lovelytics team to educate on key legal practices.
- Corporate Development: Support any M&A or corporate development initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience practicing law, ideally a mix of:
- Law firm experience (Big law firm or recognized equivalent)
- In-house counsel experience in a fast moving environment
- Specialization: Strong background in transactional law (commercial contracting, consulting agreements, IP terms, data privacy topics).
- Familiarity with employment law a plus
- Business-first thinker who balances risk mitigation with enabling smart growth.
- Pragmatic, solutions-oriented, and hungry to learn the business and adapt legal approaches accordingly.
- Collaborative and approachable — views legal as a business enabler, not just a gatekeeper.
