As a Staff Accountant at Govini, you will apply your understanding of accounting principles to support the financial operations of our organization. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures, and helping ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.In this role, you will handle tasks such as journal entries, account reconciliations, assisting with accounts payable and receivable, and fixed assets. You will also support the preparation of financial statements and assist with audits, ensuring that financial records are complete and accurate.To succeed in this role, you must be organized, have a strong attention to detail, and be comfortable working with financial data.
You should have a desire to learn and develop your skills in accounting and finance, particularly within the context of a dynamic and fast-paced environment.You will be eager to build a solid understanding of accounting procedures, such as financial reporting, general ledger management, and budgeting. You are someone who is proactive in identifying discrepancies and enjoys problem-solving to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial policies and regulations. You will work closely with the team and collaborate to ensure the smooth operation of financial processes across the organization.This role is a full-time position located in our office in Arlington, VA.This role may require up to 10% travel.
Scope of Responsibilities
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Record month-end, quarter-end, and year-end journal entries
- Prepare and review financial reports
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and optimize processes
- Assist in designing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls
- Collaborate with teams across the organization to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required
Required Skills:- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
- Basic familiarity/skills with Microsoft Office products, and the ability to quickly learn more advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets
- Excellent professional demeanor with a willingness to work outside of your comfort zone in a fast-paced environment without hesitation
- Outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple work-streams and projects, learn quickly, and work independently with little supervision
Desired Skills:- Experience with the nuances of a startup environment
- NetSuite experience is a plus
