Job Summary:


We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to take on the Laboratory Informatics Systems Administrator. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the IDBS ELN and LabVantage LIMS platforms, ensuring seamless integration, customization, and support for laboratory workflows. This role is critical to driving efficiency, data integrity, and compliance in laboratory operations. 


This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that the candidate will be based in North Carolina.

Job Responsiblities:


Laboratory Informatics Systems Administration: 

  • Lead the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of laboratory informatics systems, including IDBS ELN and LabVantage LIMS. 
  • Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions for ELN and LIMS platforms. 
  • Configure and customize workflows, templates, dashboards, and reports to support operational needs. 
  • Collaborate with laboratory personnel, QA/QC, R&D, and IT teams to understand scientific workflows and translate them into system configurations. 
  • Ensure seamless integration of informatics systems with other platforms (e.g., ERP, instruments, middleware) to optimize data flow and efficiency. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, coordinating with vendors and internal teams as required. 
  • Ensure system compliance with regulatory standards, including FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and GxP. 
  • Monitor system performance and implement enhancements to improve efficiency, usability, and data integrity. 

Project Management and Continuous Improvement: 

  • Drive the implementation of laboratory informatics systems in accordance with project schedules, milestones, and roadmaps. 
  • Collaborate with executive sponsors and cross-functional leaders to align informatics systems with business objectives and technology strategies. 
  • Work with subject matter experts to harmonize business processes and standardize analytical procedures for system configuration. 
  • Manage product feature enhancements and prioritize system improvement backlogs. 
  • Facilitate steering committee meetings and provide leadership for project support teams, including consultants and business representatives. 

Training and Documentation: 

  • Develop and deliver training programs for end-users on ELN and LIMS functionality and best practices. 
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, workflows, processes, and user guides. 
  • Mentor and educate peers on the use of laboratory informatics systems and support audits as needed. 

Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • 3+ years experience with ELN or LIMS administration.
  • Experience with IT Project management.
  • Customer-focused mindset with emotional intelligence to gather requirements and support users. 

Preferred Requirements:


  • Proficiency in laboratory informatics platforms such as LabVantage, LabArchives, Benchling, or PerkinElmer Signals. 
  • Understanding of database management and querying (SQL experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of system integration tools (e.g., APIs, middleware) and instrument interfacing
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, and data integrity requirements.
  • Experience with enterprise software packages and tools such as ELN, Empower CDS, SharePoint, Power BI, JIRA, and Confluence. 
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
