Urban Grid is a portfolio company of Brookfield. one of the world’s largest owners and operators of renewable power and climate transition assets.We are seeking a proactive and detailed Human Resources Intern to support our Human Resources processes and updating job descriptions across the organization.
This is a unique opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in process improvement, job architecture, and strategic HR initiatives.
This is a paid internship that will start on or around June 2, 2025, with an end date of August 8, 2025.
During the 10-week program, interns will participate in virtual, company-wide and department meetings, virtual monthly Friday lunch & learn trainings and a culminating group presentation on your overall internship experience. The program is structured to provide exposure to careers in renewable energy, best practices in internal communications as part of a remote/ hybrid team and best of all, the opportunity to work and support a team of professionals who are experts in their field.
Responsibilities
- Audit existing job descriptions for consistency, clarity, and alignment with current job responsibilities
- Partner with hiring managers to gather up-to-date role expectations and responsibilities
- Research industry standards and best practices to enhance job description content
- Standardize format, tone, and structure across all job descriptions
- Assist in maintaining a centralized and organized job description library
- Ensure all job descriptions are compliant with relevant employment laws and company policies
- Support broader HR initiatives as needed, such as Talent Acquisition, onboarding, or performance management.
- Conduct a thorough review of existing HR processes and identify areas of improvement
- Work alongside our human resources team to support various initiatives and assist with various tasks
- Intern will deliver final presentation during a lunch-and-learn in August showcasing what they learned during their internship and how they were able to leverage their academic experience to solve/revamp an issue/process.
- Other duties assigned.
Location
This position will be in our Houston, TX Headquarters working a Hybrid 3 days a week in the office/ 2 days remote. Position will require a trip to one of the project sites.Candidate to work full-time hours Monday - Friday during the summer duration of the internship.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
- Maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to coordinate and communicate work with multiple disciplines, and team members.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong organizational capacity to simultaneously manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines and be able to quickly adapt to changes and shift priorities to meet project needs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in technology and data-driven decision-making.
- Strong work ethic and exceptionally high work standards
