Manager - Financial Reporting Group
Equity Methods seeks a results-focused, growth-oriented professional to manage client engagements serving finance and accounting teams at Fortune 500 companies. As a Manager in our Financial Reporting Group, you’ll apply your aptitude for finance, technical accounting, and/or economic analysis with a passion for client service to deliver world-class reporting to publicly traded companies.You’ll interface with our clients’ finance, treasury, controllership, FP&A, tax, executive compensation, and legal teams.
You’ll gain deep experience in managing complex client relationships, maintaining and enhancing our focus on excellence and pristine client service, coaching and mentoring junior staff, and more. The Role in a Nutshell
- Serve as the face of the firm in equity compensation-focused financial reporting engagements, which requires command of technical subject matter, client interaction, technological automation, project management, and proactive communication.
- Manage a portfolio of clients, both from the day-to-day service perspective and the overall relationship with EM. Be accountable for the end-to-end client experience and help clients understand other ways in which EM can support them.
- Serve as an internal subject matter expert, taking a hands-on approach to projects, assisting in internal reviews, and training/coaching junior staff.
- Work effectively with internal teams while delivering high quality advisory services to client-side management and executive teams spanning multiple functions in the client organization.
- Perform research into novel technical areas and clearly explain the analysis and results both internally and externally.
- Explain complex technical issues in plain English to clients.
- Support service innovation and deliverables upgrade initiatives from ideation to design, development, and client prototyping.
- Supervise associates, providing coaching and feedback aligned with our apprenticeship-based, promote-from-within culture.
- Contribute to EM’s best-in-class thought leadership platform by participating in the writing and publishing of material that showcases the firm’s expertise and ability to explain complex topics in digestible prose.

Qualifications & Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience in a role that involves financial reporting, financial modeling, economic analysis, or related analytical problem-solving.
- Proficiency in accounting and finance and the common technical tools through which financial reporting is approached today.
- Strong Excel skills and/or the ability to manage data via analytical tools (e.g., SAS, PowerBi, etc.).
- Solid client management skills and a passion for delighting clients through flexibility, adaptability, and customization.
- Some prior experience supervising junior talent and delivering coaching/feedback that helps them upskill.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a business discipline that relates to the role.
- Ability to quickly grasp technical accounting, finance, and economics concepts and apply them to real-world fact patterns.
- Strong ability to manage multiple, complex workstreams, evolving priorities, and varied deadlines.
- Strong detail and accuracy orientation.
- Ability and willingness to think critically and solve “out-of-the-box” problems independently.
- Ability to excel in both the technical and business/client dimensions of consulting.
- Experience in any of the following is highly desirable:
- Share-based payment accounting (ASC 718 and IFRS 2)
- Tax reporting (ASC 740)
- Earnings per share accounting (ASC 260)
- Forecasting and budgeting for external reporting purposes
- Proxy disclosures
- GL systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday)
- Audit review procedures
- Background check required.
