Nuna is looking for a Payroll Manager to join our growing Accounting team. As a member of Financial Operations, you’ll be responsible for Nuna’s end to end payroll process. You’ll work closely with the HR team and all layers of Nuna’s management to ensure the flawless execution of payroll.Reporting to our Controller, you will have a great opportunity to demonstrate your excellent ability to multitask, impress with your strong computer skills, and amaze everyone with your attention to detail while supporting an impactful mission.

YOUR OPPORTUNITIES


  • Process and review multi-state (20+) biweekly payroll (including bonuses, and other supplemental pay) while adhering to strict deadlines
  • Ensure‌ ‌the‌ ‌processing‌ ‌of‌ ‌new‌ ‌hires,‌ ‌temporary‌ ‌workers,‌ garnishments, leaves, on-call pay, reimbursements, ‌transfers,‌ ‌promotions‌ ‌and‌ ‌terminations‌ ‌are‌ ‌completed‌ ‌accurately and‌ ‌in a timely manner
  • Manage and oversee the ADP payroll system, including data integrity, system audits, reporting, year-end processing and system updates, investigating and resolving errors in payroll data processing with ADP and other stakeholders
  • Responsibility for stock related payroll reporting, benefits, 401K activity, incentives/bonuses, as well as any other related compensation adjustments
  • Manage taxation; including new state set up, tax notices, tax corrections, and tax amendments
  • Provide on-going payroll related support to Nuna employees in a timely manner and with a kind and approachable customer service attitude
  • Maintain employee and management confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential and trackers up to date in real time
  • Serve as a payroll liaison (Payroll Subject Matter Expert) for cross-functional partners and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with current regulations, benefits changes, and labor laws impacting the payroll process, keeping compliant for all payroll tax jurisdictions. Address and resolve all payroll tax notices in a timely manner
  • Work with Accounting Program Manager to ensure state filing compliance including Secretary of State, Department of Labor, and tax authorities
  • Lead, recommend‌ ‌and‌ ‌participate‌ ‌in‌ ‌projects‌ ‌to‌ ‌continually‌ ‌review‌ ‌and‌ ‌improve‌ ‌current‌ ‌processes‌ ‌and‌ ‌internal‌ ‌controls
  • Establish‌ ‌a‌ ‌process‌ ‌for‌ ‌monthly‌ ‌and‌ ‌transactional‌ ‌control‌ ‌reviews‌ ‌to‌ ‌ensure‌ ‌payroll‌ ‌processes‌ ‌are‌ ‌compliant‌ ‌with‌ ‌established‌ ‌controls
  • Manage payroll data for financial reporting. Manage/assist with timely recording of payroll journal entries, account reconciliations and reporting
  • Responsible for on-going maintenance and design specifications for ADP system updates. Stay current on changes to payroll processing policies, internal procedures, and software updates
  • Partner with Human Resources on onboarding new hires, terminations, and other changes impacting payroll
  • Work closely with the Benefits Administrator to support the annual Open Enrollment Process and review benefit invoices as needed
  • Manage‌ ‌and‌ ‌audit‌ ‌W-2s‌ ‌and‌ ‌yearly‌ ‌administration‌ ‌of‌ ‌payroll‌ ‌in‌ ‌preparation‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌following‌ ‌calendar‌ ‌year‌
  • Undertake other functions and/or special projects as directed by management and/or HR

QUALIFICATIONS


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent 
  • 7+ years’ payroll administration experience with at least 2 + years in payroll management
  • Experience with 250+ employee and multi-state payrolls is required
  • ADP super user
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Deep understanding of applicable federal, state, and local payroll and related tax laws, regulations, and statutes
  • Proactively maintains up to date knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced dynamic environment, navigating changing priorities with ease
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent organization and time management skills paired; ability to handle multiple priorities within deadlines is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill paired with keen listening skills
  • Positive and customer service-oriented attitude
  • Thinks strategically and understands big picture

Preferred Qualifications


  • HRIS Implementation experience
  • CPP designation 

We take into account an individual’s qualifications, skillset, and experience in determining final salary. This role is eligible for health insurance, life insurance, retirement benefits, participation in the company’s equity program, paid time off, including vacation and sick leave. The expected salary range for this position is $127,000 to $148,000.
