Job Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant role requires expertise in financial and accounting management, covering corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, and process documentation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform Month-End, Quarter-End and Year-End closing functions.
- Prepares account reconciliations and supporting workpaper documentation.
- Research variances and discrepancies recommending adjustments and recording of approved entries.
- Prepares and records month-end asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries.
- Manages vendors payable process and partners with the purchasing department.
- Manages the cash disbursement process and monthly bank account reconciliations.
- Manages the company credit card activity, employee reimbursements, approvals, & reporting. Records the necessary entries to support the process.
- Partners with HR, provides payroll support, & records related payroll journal entries.
- Prepares a weekly cash projection.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to support the annual audit process.
- Evaluates processes/procedures making recommendations for improvement always striving for best practices with role.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of four years in accounting related roles (Staff Accountant, AP/AR, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline.
- Journal entry experience.
- Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable experience a must.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week in office.
- Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse, and computer for up to 6-8 hours per day.
- Ability to utilize telephone/video conferencing for approximately 1-2 hours per day.
- Ability to lift and/or move at least 10 pounds.
- Frequently remain in a stationary position throughout day.
