Position Summary


The Associate Network Security Analyst is responsible for assisting in maintaining and managing Wellby’s network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. They work closely with other members of the IT team to provide a high-quality experience for both internal and external members.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the configuration, monitoring, securing, and troubleshooting of virtual and physical LAN/WAN/SD-WAN networks, routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Provide technical support to team members for connectivity issues, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient resolutions.
  • Collaborate on implementing and maintaining firewall rules, VPNs, and other security protocols to safeguard data.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of network diagrams, configurations, procedures, and inventories.
  • Support the installation, testing, and deployment of network equipment, software patches, and firmware updates.
  • Monitor network performance metrics and collaborate on improving scalability and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational and industry-standard security policies and procedures.
  • Work with third-party vendors to resolve network issues and assist other departmental members with escalated service requests and resolving problems.
  • Remain abreast of technology and cybersecurity trends in search of potential improvements in various systems that enhance the credit union's ability to deliver products and services to staff and members.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)


  • Knowledge of Wellby’s organizational functions and general operating policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the systems/computer field, including application design, hardware, software, and their capabilities and limitations.
  • Knowledge of routing concepts (BGP, EIGRP, MPLS).
  • Knowledge of encryption protocols (SSL, TLS)
  • Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/UDP, DNS).
  • Knowledge of UCaaS telephony platforms (GoTo, Glia).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, and M365.
  • Skilled in analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Skilled in creating schematic drawings network infrastructure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to motivate others and to work in a large cross-functional team dynamic.
  • Ability to efficiently understand and follow oral and written instructions, perform routine duties without close supervision, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other team members and leaders throughout the credit union.
  • Ability to coordinate several concurrent activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to explain technical information in understandable language to non-technical team members.  
  • Ability to develop, interpret and apply program regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities


  • Team member has no supervisory responsibilities.

Complexity & Scope of Work


  • The team member performs several routines and generally related tasks without supervisory direction.
  • The team member may make decisions regarding unusual circumstances on occasion.
  • Courses of action are determined by established procedures and/or the Director of Cybersecurity
  • The team member’s work is reviewed periodically for accuracy, completion, and compliance with the policies and procedures.
  • The team member uses independent judgment in making decisions.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • To perform this job successfully, the team member must frequently remain in a stationary position 50% of the time while sitting at a desk for prolonged periods due to working on a computer. Daily movements include sitting, standing, reaching, and grasping; operating computers and other office equipment; moving about the office; and attending possible onsite and offsite meetings. 
  • The team member must be able to exchange information, in person, in writing, and via telephone. Some degree of stress results from contact with management and other team members.
  • The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 25 pounds across the office and load them onto shelves for various needs.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Work involves the typical risks and discomforts associated with an office environment but is usually in an adequately cooled, heated, lighted, and ventilated area.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year in network support, cybersecurity, or a related IT field.
  • Exposure to configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks preferred.
  • Network or security certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+,
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, etc.).
  • Familiarity with security concepts and technologies including firewalls, encryption protocols (SSL, TLS), and VPNs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Be willing to travel 20% of the time.
