SUMMARY:
The Automation Support Engineer is accountable for operating, troubleshooting, and evaluating processes within automated workflows, particularly focused on nucleic acid extractions, NGS, and molecular assays.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Collaborates with Labs to ensure the operational functionality of automation equipment and processes.• Demonstrates proficiency in operating Automation platforms such as Tecan, Beckman, PerkinElmer.• Configures and programs automated liquid handling instrument software as required.• Provides on-call support for equipment with hardware/software issues during live runs.• Delivers ongoing training to laboratory staff utilizing automated laboratory instruments.• Manages changes in liquid handling methods and tracks these alterations.• Develops and updates SOPs related to automated processes.• Produces user guides and other training documents for automation needs.• Cultivates a culture of Continuous Improvement within the area of responsibility.• Executes other job-related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:• BS, MS + up to 1 year of relevant experience• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field.• Experience in a biotechnology environment.• Ability to troubleshoot liquid handling equipment and general laboratory equipment, preferably systems like Tecan, Beckman, PerkinElmer.• Method development experience on automation platforms.• Strong laboratory skills and organizational capabilities, adeptness in independent and efficient work.• Excellent creative thinking, problem-solving skills, and strong written/verbal communication skills.• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation.• Awareness of precision, accuracy, and Six-Sigma methodologies.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:• Frequently required to sit.• Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.• Frequently required to talk or hear.EEO Statement:We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from candidates regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
