Baylor Genetics is a pivotal player in supporting medical decision-making and furnishing individuals and families with invaluable genetic information.We are seeking a clinical platform system architect to implement highly complex information systems and networked software architectures, aligned to IT strategies, business functions, and clinical operations. You will provide technology direction, ensure project implementation compliance, and utilize technology research to innovate, integrate, and manage technology solutions. As a Clinical Platform System Architect, you will significantly contribute to identifying best-fit architectural solutions for one or more projects.
Requires broad knowledge about all phases of the software development life cycle and solution delivery for web, client-server, and cloud-based systems and subject matter expertise in modern software engineering principles and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- A Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in IT, computer science, software engineering, or equivalent.
- Certificates to demonstrate knowledge and competency.
- Experience:
- 10+ years of experience as an architect, project manager, or developer track record.
- Experience in various software designs, languages, and architecture.
- Solution definition and problem-solving skills.
- Practical experience in project management.
- Familiarity with computer networks and IT security management.
- Experience and knowledge of cloud computing.
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-changing environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain business process flows, value stream maps, and reference architectures for all assigned projects.
- Develop end-to-end solution processes and prepare technical documents including time and cost estimation and implementation requirements.
- Lead the planning, implementation, and execution to modernize the wet lab information system (LIMS).
- Improve the bioinformatics analytical architecture by leveraging the in-house high performance computing (HPC) environment and cloud resources.
- Oversee design, upgrade, and integration of bioinformatics pipeline to a hybrid cloud platform.
- Modernize dry lab information system (LIS).
- Enable infrastructure upgrade for clinical insights curation & tertiary analysis systems.
- Design and implement scientific & clinical data lakehouse platform upgrade.
- Collaborate in a multidisciplinary and regulated clinical diagnostics environment with geneticists, bioinformaticians, software engineers, and IT infrastructure professionals.
