SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Finance team. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting across our U.S. and Canadian entities. Reporting directly to the VP Accounting and Finance with access to the CFO, the Staff Accountant will support core accounting functions including monthly close, financial reporting, government compliance, and technical accounting research.This is an exciting opportunity for an accounting professional looking to broaden their cross-border experience and contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Experience working across U.S. and Canadian accounting regulations is highly valued.Based in Canada, preferably near our Montreal office, Hybrid (Montreal office/remote) is ideal. Fully remote is negotiable.Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Accounting Team in the monthly close process
- Support Order Processing/Sales Operations, AR, and AP functions in proper transaction coding, contract review, and compliance with accounting policies.
- Help with monthly Canadian provincial sales tax filings
- Assist in the completion of year-end audit
- Ad Hoc assignments could include providing financial and operational analysis for leadership and participate in industry benchmarking projects
- Support implementation and integration of new financial tools and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Provide back up to different teams within the Finance and HR organization when deemed necessary
- Other duties as required
Requirements and Experience
- BA/BS in Accounting or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years experience in accounting with increasing levels of responsibility. Big 4 audit experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of US GAAP
- Technical research experience
- Strong Excel, NetSuite and Salesforce skills desirable
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Exceptional hands-on experience
- Ability to work independently
- Self-disciplined with strong business acumen, communication skills, team-comes-first mindset
- Bilingual in French and English
