Health Care for the Homeless is seeking a Senior Peer Recovery Specialist (SPRS) to join our Housing Services team. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate individual with lived experience in recovery to support others in achieving housing stability and overall wellness. As an SPRS, you will model recovery, provide coaching and support, and help clients connect to essential services—all while working in a mission-driven, equity-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build supportive relationships with clients to promote engagement in care and housing services
- Use motivational interviewing and coaching techniques to assist clients with complex needs
- Coordinate care across housing, health, behavioral health, and social service systems
- Provide individual and group peer support in community and home-based settings
- Mentor and train other Peer staff, supporting certification and professional development
- Complete timely, accurate documentation and ensure compliance with grant requirements
- Act as a subject matter expert in connecting clients to recovery and substance use resources
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; AA in Human Services preferred
- Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) required
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in linking clients to health and behavioral health services
- Personal experience with substance use, mental illness, homelessness, HIV, or incarceration
- Valid Maryland driver’s license and access to personal vehicle
- Knowledge of Baltimore City resources and commitment to harm reduction and housing-first models
