The
Senior Instructor responsible for delivering world-class training to customers. The Senior Instructor follows a lesson plan in which learners are introduced to a real-world problem, see an explanation of the underlying concepts, watch a demonstration of how to solve the problem, and finally practice what they’ve seen in a hands-on exercise. During the course, the Senior Instructor monitors learners’ understanding, adjusts the training as necessary, and evaluates their progress. Ultimately, the training helps learners do something useful that they could not do before.The Senior Instructor has a strong understanding of Galaxy, Gateway, and the industries Gateway serves.
They incorporate that knowledge into training delivery to make courses relevant and helpful for customers.At this career stage, the Senior Instructor can deliver standard courses as well as courses that are customized for a customer’s needs. The Senior Instructor can manage a custom training project and rapidly adapt the training to fit the customer’s data or business requirements. In addition, on short notice the Senior Instructor can deliver an unfamiliar course, with or without a lesson plan, while still following Gateway’s general lesson structure and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, computer science, or a related field.
- 7+ years’ experience delivering technical training.
- 10+ years’ operational experience, including significant experience with people leadership.

- Explain technical material in a simple and concise way.
- Manage and deliver customized courses.
- Manage all aspects of course delivery, including writing the agenda, corresponding with the customer’s point-of-contact, and configuring the necessary hardware and software.
- Deliver high-profile training, including sessions for prospective customers or user-group meetings, as opportunities arise.
- Revise existing courses and develop new ones as requested by instructional designer.
- Pilot-test new courses and offering suggestions for improvement.
- Maintain and improve Galaxy configurations in the training environments.
- Rapidly learn a lesson plan and deliver its contents.
- Engage students with relevant examples, thoughtful questions, appropriate pacing, and a cheerful demeanor, both in-person and virtual.
- Travel up to 50% of the calendar year, which may include weekends and holidays.
- Work/communicate to all levels of management and knowledge-based personnel while keeping a professional demeanor.
- Work both in a team environment and on an individual basis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn basic job functions of other Learning Solutions team members in order to backfill or assist when needed.
Essential Duties:
Delivering and developing regularly scheduled courses on Gateway Ticketing Systems software and related subjects. This includes the following: Rapidly learning how to teach a course by reviewing the lesson plan, configuring the feature, practicing with the PowerPoint deck, and interviewing subject-matter experts.Explaining technical material in a simple and concise way.Adjusting training—within the lesson plan—to match learners’ qualifications, limitations, abilities, interests, aptitudes, and temperament.Evaluating practical exercises to determine learners’ success.Building on, expanding, or creating new training material to meet customer needs and expectations.Ensuring customer satisfaction while upholding Gateway’s core values.Managing and delivering customized courses. This includes the following:Gathering the customer’s business requirements and estimating the amount of billable time required.Managing all aspects of the course delivery, including writing the agenda, corresponding with the customer’s point-of-contact, and configuring the necessary hardware and software.Adapting existing course materials to suit the customer’s needs, including learning new topics if necessary.Delivering high-profile training, including sessions for prospective customers or user-group meetings, as opportunities arise.Product Communications: Create effective content to communicate details about new features and products to employees and internal partners.Disseminate content internally on a scheduled basis, and/or based on project completion dates and communication needs.Assist in development of “What’s New” documentation and training material, develop pitch decks and new product communication.Update existing instructor-led training materials in conjunction with Instructional Designer.Project Hand-Off:Coordinate cross-departmentally to receive updates on new products and features and time communications effectively.Monitor document repositories.Performing other duties as needed. This includes the following:Assisting in revising existing courses and documentation or developing new material.Pilot-testing new courses and offering suggestions for improvement.Maintaining and improving Galaxy configurations in the training environments.General Duties:
